I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, on my way from Panama to Moscow. The high-rise stands out in contrast among the crumbling buildings, once beautiful buildings, old and beautiful Havana. The staff is polite and values their work, as it probably allows them to make ends meet a little better than other people in terms of salaries and tips. The rooms are not bad, with all the amenities, there is hot water, Internet, TV (international programs, there is, to my surprise, even CNN), There are a lot of tourists in the hotel - mostly elderly retired people from the USA, Canada, there were from Germany and even from Turkey. They all stay at the hotel for a couple of days before leaving for local resorts. Business people are from China. There are several restaurants in the hotel. The food is varied, the cuisine is not bad, but I did not like the coffee at breakfast. The bar is open 24 hours a day. Vintage limousines are on duty near the hotel during the day, and a tour of the old town is offered for those who wish, for an hour and a half, about 20 US dollars, and they may ask for more. It's as agreed. The hotel is located on the waterfront, if you want, you can walk safely.. Cubans are friendly, polite people, and they seemed to treat people from Russia well.
I lived in this hotel for two months. A fairly new hotel with nice rooms and a view from the window. I had a view of the ocean and Havana. I had breakfast included. If, of course, you do not fly for a long time, for 10 days, then everything is enough. For breakfast there are different sausages, different cheeses, red fish, omelets are made with different additives, there is meat, sweets, juices, fruits, vodka and champagne, that is, you can have breakfast in peace. I sometimes had vodka for breakfast)). If you live like me for 2 months, then everything gets boring and you don't want anything. The ocean is right across the street. There is a gym and a nice pool. Sun beds. They give you towels. The hotel is located in such a way that when you are near the pool with almost no direct sun, it's actually cool, because in Cuba the sun is the first enemy, you burn out quickly and strongly. The staff, well, they are not very well elected, they began to give money to clean even worse, I had to give a master class to the cleaning lady, she was stunned and thanked me very much and after that she cleaned well))). There are no shops nearby, but everywhere you can buy beer and rum from people living nearby. In Havana, there are generally few shops with products from practically none, but beer and rum are at every turn. Now from the cons of the hotel. He survived three hurricanes. When Raphael was there, the whole hotel was leaking, thank God not my room, but it was pouring from all the cracks, I do not know how they will fix it. A friend had mold everywhere, he was relocated. When Milton was there, everything was fine, although three blocks were flooded and the approach to the hotel had to be all in water and you had to go waist-deep in water to it. When the lights were turned off in Cuba, the hotel was running on a generator, although the air conditioner was not working, but it was clear that there was no hot water. Therefore, I recommend the hotel, it's Cuba. It must be understood and then life becomes more fun. Good luck.
Then there is no water. Then the rooms flow through the windows in the rain . the staff is polite, but not all, some are racist. If you leave a bag at breakfast, it will not be found. Things are washed badly. The room is cleaned locally. Under the bed, during the two months of my stay, I was urinated only once. Although he always left tips. There may be cockroaches in the rooms. There is an excellent Tablazo restaurant next to the hotel, 100 meters away, but the hotel has nothing to do with it. Lunch costs 20 bucks at the hotel. The food is so-so. It's not worth $20 per person. That's why I went to a restaurant nearby. A 5-star hotel. But in fact it is 2 stars maximum. But considering that this is Cuba and this is Havana. This is the best.
