Everything is in the description of the room and no one hides it, but not everyone is careful when booking. Otherwise, it's a great place.
We had a rest from July 9-17. We were very satisfied and even ran away from another hotel back to Grand Athos. Good location, all the sights nearby, lots of cafes and shops. The food for breakfast and dinner is very tasty, there is a variety for every taste, thanks to the chefs and the girls who keep the hall clean, you are well done! The only disadvantage is the plumbing in the rooms, but this is a problem, as I understand it, in all hotels in Abkhazia. The beach is about 15 minutes on foot, there is a shorter path than the girls at the reception advise, sun beds, umbrellas are all there (you need to hunt a little for umbrellas). We will be happy to return to you and recommend your hotel to our friends.

We rested at the Grand Athos Hotel in New Athos from 07/24/04/08 , I was 100% satisfied with the hotel, daily room cleaning, top-level food like at home. All the staff is responsive, friendly, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, TV are all available, but one more fat + is an autonomous power supply in case of a power outage. I give 5 stars deservedly, and if I ever go to New Athos again, then the hotel will definitely be Grand Athos.
I give a comprehensive assessment: for the hotel itself and for the "service".
First of all, about the hotel itself. Overall, not bad. One of the best in Athos. Pleasant outside, spacious and modern lobby. The rooms make a double impression. Good furniture, fresh, comfortable mattresses, toppers with covers on the mattresses. White bed linen. A spacious closet. Clean, high-quality plumbing. The air conditioner is working properly. The view of the city is pleasant. The breakfasts and dinners are decent. The choice is not very big, but you definitely won't leave hungry.
But:
1. The bathroom does not have a normal door. The sink is located in the center of the compartment, and it is not separated from the room in any way. To the right and left of the sink there is a shower room and a toilet. They have glass doors. Doors without locks. Accordingly, all sounds and smells are distributed to the room.
2. Neither the sink nor the shower has a siphon or a water lock. There is a persistent sewer smell coming from the drain, which again, by virtue of clause 1, spreads by number
3. The shower room is spacious, it pleases. But the toilet is very small and the entrance is located to the side of the toilet. In fact, the distance from the toilet to any wall is 15cm. It will be extremely inconvenient for large people to use it
4. The closet is large and roomy. But there are no shelves in it. And only 2 hangers. You have to store clothes in suitcases. The closet remains empty in fact. What is the problem with hanging special hangers that only have hangers removed?
5. The coffee machine in the restaurant is designed for home use. Constantly running out of water, clogging up, running out of coffee. You can stand in line for coffee for 10 minutes. At the same time, the coffee itself is not bad.
6. Soap is still offered in the form of small pieces. It's impossible to wash your hands like that. And how many "snot" from this soap on the sink.... There's nowhere to put this piece in the shower. It would have been time to switch to liquid soap and gel in dispensaries long ago. It is hygienic, practical, and economical.
Now about the service. You should not have false illusions. The problems of the guests remain the problems of the guests.
1. On the very first day, we contacted the receptionist about the sewer smell in the room. Bleach was poured into our drains once. It helped, but only until we used the shower and sink. No one reacted to the repeated request to pour at least bleach, if no one knows about the siphons. That's how we live, inhaling dubious scents
2. The child became ill at night, vomited on the bed. We took off our underwear. But it wasn't enough. The administrator suggested that we wash the bed linen ourselves, otherwise there is a fine for damage to property. This is the first time I have encountered such a "service".
3. We regularly hear from other guests that they repeatedly contact the administration about some of their requests, but they are politely accepted, promised, and the number is recorded.... They don't do anything.
The hotel is very clean and friendly. We had a rest from June 22 to July 6, 2024. Beautiful hotel, very clean and cozy. Friendly staff. Rooms with snow-white linen and towels. I would like to thank the administrator, Diana, separately. Thanks a lot to all the staff. New Athos is a great place to relax.
Wonderful hotel, the location is very convenient. We were in our own car, there were no problems with parking. Nearby there is a waterfall, a lot of attractions, cafes and markets. It's great to just walk to the sea and drink hot coffee. Special thanks to all the staff for their understanding, courtesy and help in various situations.

The hotel is very conveniently located near a waterfall, a monastery, and many places to walk! Near the hotel there is an outdoor bass with sun beds and heated on the territory of the neighboring hotel, you can use it! the room has modern plumbing, clean and replenished daily with water, shampoo, soap, bathrobes, hairdryer (there were no slippers), ironing board for use in the hallway! Russian channels are working! There were no complaints about nutrition either. The choice is not great, but you definitely can't go hungry, the dishes were replenished quickly too. Someone wrote that there were bugs, one flew in to us, we sent it back. It's natural, the mountain is right next to it. But what a magnificent birdsong!
There is a swimming pool nearby, since it is not yet the season to swim in it, cleanly and neatly. After hiking in the mountains, a great way to relieve fatigue.
We liked the food, there are several salads, several main courses, slicing, vegetable, cheese, sausage, desserts, coffee machine, instant coffee, compote, tea, there is enough choice. The food is delicious, I liked everything we ate. And what a view. We ate on the terrace, enjoyed the view and the fresh air!

The staff is incredibly friendly. They always help and try to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Special thanks to the magicians from the restaurant: the breakfasts and dinners are great. There is good food in the dining room, but a very serious woman who works seven days a week and hence she has an extremely aggressive manner of work.

They cleaned every day, took out the trash, washed the plumbing, reported toiletries and paper. The pool is clean and has a view, but it was not heated in summer. In general, everything is not bad, plus they provide a shuttle service to the airport or train station in Adler.

I don't understand where such estimates come from. All the sites of this hotel have terrible reviews and it's a pity that I didn't read them before choosing a hotel. Now I will describe all the problems that have arisen, at least for me:
1. The room periodically STINKS of sewage.
2. When the neighbors from above flush or wash in the room, such sounds as if we are being washed away by this wave.
3. The Wi-Fi in the room IS NOT WORKING. In order to access the Internet, you need to go to the elevator.
4. There is only one elevator for everyone, and every time you have to run to the top floor for breakfast / dinner or spend eternity waiting for the elevator.
5. The promised heated pool on the top floor is NOT WORKING and all guests are sent to the pool at a nearby hotel.
6. Now to THE FOOD. The food is really delicious. This is the only thing that could save this review. But again, the service ruined everything. An employee of the canteen (or as they call it: The Restaurant) allows herself to be rude to customers, is outraged in a boorish way when you want to take out buns or cakes to the room. In front of me, she quarreled several times with the guests because of this. But personally, I don't see anything wrong with taking a bun to the room and eating it with coffee or wine.
7. Unlike the neighboring hotels, Grand Athos does not have its own territory around the hotel.

Because it is unlikely that the owner of the hotel will do this, I will write for future tourists: standard rooms with 2 beds. without additional information. the places are small (this is indicated in the description) the balcony overlooks the nearby fire station building, these rooms are located on the 2nd-3rd floor (so we were told at the reception) Standard rooms with 2 beds. without a balcony, windows up to the 4th floor overlook the embankment wall, at a distance of 2 meters, probably no further (see photo). In general, if you buy rooms of these categories, prepare not to look out the window or buy rooms with a higher category, there are more rooms and the view is good (if the balcony overlooks the main entrance to the hotel.).The rooms are certainly so-so...the bathroom smells of sewage periodically. Dining room-breakfast is like breakfast, there are no complaints, dinner will not stay hungry either, without much choice, but it is quite edible. What was killing me was the problem with the dishes! Well, buy more forks and cups! if you come to the dining room 30 minutes later, you will eat with a tablespoon!

The booklets and websites of travel agencies say that this is a 4-star hotel… A lie! I came across a musty room 301 with a musty and rotten smell. I asked to change it, they suggested only with an additional payment. The room is dark and uncomfortable, the wallpaper is moving away from the walls, the carpet is peeling, the plumbing is all rusty, the furniture is tired. A beach towel is paid-100 rubles, there is one soap and one gel in the shower, there is no disposable set for brushing teeth. It smells of poverty. Around February, the owner changed hands and it got even worse than it was.
Do not take half board at any time, you will regret it. Firstly, the schedule is inconvenient: breakfast is already at 8:30, it's a little late if you plan trips or early trips to the beach so as not to get burned. Secondly, the choice is meager, 2 hot, 2 side dishes. This is clearly not the promised buffet. Fruits are rare and there is one type (nectarine or watermelon). Some dishes are pure improvisation from g.... And sticks, I made it out of what was… Many of the guests were outraged and went to eat in the cafe.
The staff was unfriendly, the barmaid with a dissatisfied face sat in the center of the hall and waited for everyone to finally leave and was in no hurry to change the empty trays.
At the counter, the girls are completely unaware of the service: they talk in an inappropriate tone, communicate loudly on their own topics, watch memes, listen to music, as usual. The first thing I would like to note is the very responsive staff, attentive and friendly, they even lent us a stroller, for which special thanks!!!we have been without a stroller at home for a long time, the second plus is the food -delicious, varied and with love at home.- watermelons, grapes.Apples, plums!Very tasty milk .The third plus is cleanliness everywhere and in everything -perfect.The fourth plus is the proximity to the sights - waterfalls, a road, caves, a monastery....There is an ironing board with an iron, standing near our 513 standard rooms with a balcony.Water was put in the room every day , garbage was thrown out .Do not buy rooms without a balcony -these will be standards with a view of the wall, we had the 5th floor with a balcony, we lived as if on the second highest because of the mountain, and the 2-3 floor without a balcony will just have a concrete wall from the window.Cons -there is no territory at all, only Parking, no children's area, no pool on the street, which we were promised at the nearby Waterfall hotel, it is there, but it cannot be used from this year , well, it is on line 33, walking with a stroller for half an hour.In general, the rest was a success -the child was entertained in the park -next to the park with a pond, Lights,swans,geese, ostrich,trampoline and swings, the hotel has a beautiful glass elevator.Umbrellas and deck chairs are free of charge at the sea.The choice of excursions for every taste - we took a Ritz with an Abkhazian feast from the operator at the hotel.We were in Abkhazia for the first time , I want to come back , we left a piece of our soul there !!!
We had a vacation with our family at the end of September. Due to its location, the hotel is simply in a great location. All the sights of Mount Athos are within walking distance. I also liked the hotel very much: pleasant and responsible staff, delicious food (even if it was monotonous somewhere, but we ate too much. There was always something to take, even for a child who doesn't eat everything). Bed linen was changed once a week, towels more often. There are good terry bathrobes in the room, both for adults and children (they need to be given out). They went to the pool, which is located on the 7th floor. The beds and mattresses are new, comfortable, and sleep comfortably (the only thing with pillows is bad luck, they already need to be changed). Plumbing and air conditioning were working properly. The balcony overlooked the beautiful mountains and the neighboring Waterfall hotel, which has a heated pool on the street (these hotels have one owner and we could also go swimming in this pool). The sea is about 600 m from the hotel. You can walk along the path through the market, shops. Or you can go through a beautiful park. The sea is the purest! If you need sun beds (200 rubles), there are also umbrellas. Many are just lying on towels.
Probably the only small disadvantage of the hotel: the whole curtain is broken and the curtains did not move in general. And there is no foot towel.
Otherwise, everything is great!!!
Good hotel, good food. There was a room for two. They clean up, change their clothes, and brought 2 bottles of drinking water every day. When they found out that we would be late and would not get to dinner, they offered to leave us food in the room, When we arrived, the food was in the room. We left different bread to choose from and tea bags of black, green and coffee 3 in 1, nice).
I stayed at this hotel in August 2023. In general, the hotel is very decent, and excellent by Abkhazian standards. From what I did not like: I lived on the 3rd floor, and the bathroom constantly smelled of sewage, the ventilator in the hood works with the light on, but this does not really save (when I was not in the room, the maid left the bathroom door open after cleaning and the smell spread to the whole room). Otherwise, the room is very decent Wi-Fi works stably, the Internet speed is good, the TV also works (I didn't have any difficulties setting it up).
As for food, the restaurant is located on the 7th floor, you can dine on the veranda overlooking the mountains and the sea. The menu, it should be noted, is quite monotonous (there was only one fish, seafood is generally not particularly pampered), no more than 2 hot dishes to choose from, with salads and slightly better vegetables; fruits are generally quite small (there were only apples and plums). The food is delicious, of course, but the diet itself is very monotonous. There is also a swimming pool on the 7th floor, the water is really quite cold in it (I don't know, maybe they heat it up in the colder season, but not in summer), and since the pool is under the roof (albeit outdoors), it does not warm up in the sun.
Otherwise, there are only advantages: the room was cleaned daily, and the supply of drinking water and detergents (soap and shampoo) was replenished daily, there is air conditioning, a hairdryer, a refrigerator, a kettle in each room. As for the location of the hotel, it is just perfect: near the waterfall, the entrance to the historical gorge, the station of the Pcyrsha. Also within walking distance is the entrance to the New Athos Cave, Primorsky Park, the New Athos monastery and Stalin's dacha (I do not recommend the latter to visit, because there is not much to see). The sea can also be reached in 5 minutes, at a calm pace. By the way, the hotel has its own beach (Rodina Beach), very well equipped: you do not need to pay for umbrellas and sun beds, there are always places on the beach ...
In general, the hotel left a very pleasant impression, put the 4th only because of the stench in the shower... otherwise, everything is fine, I recommend the hotel to everyone👍👍👍
Very far from the sea. There are all the sights nearby. The pool in the hotel did not work, but there was an option in a boarding house nearby.

Nice hotel in New Athos. It is located in the historical part of the city. Pleasant guest relaxation and clean rooms. Meals are included in the room rate. Near the famous waterfall and monastery. The rooms are clean. All conditions for a good rest.
They were from September 8 to September 15, 2023. The location of the hotel is 5. In the center of all the attractions. The sea is quite far away for 15-20 minutes. Number three. The toilet door is glass without locks and completely not sealed. The gaps in the door are probably 1-2 cm . The toilet is installed, this is a separate song. Diagonally to the side of the fire protection from the door. It's very difficult to squeeze in there. Moreover, the toilet is small. The room was cleaned perfectly and every day. The girls at the reception are responsive. Bottled water was changed every day. The linen was changed once. The buffet in the dining room is a bad Soviet canteen. Coffee in the can of Cafe Pele. There was a fish once. There were apples and watermelons. There were no more fruits. There are few sunbeds on the beach. We went to the next 150 rubles for a whole day sunbed and canopy.Transfer from Biblio Globus, the flight departs at 14:30, we left the hotel at 6 am. We were at the airport at 10 a.m. Everyone was collected from all the hotels for 4 hours in the mountains. The prices are too high for such a service.

I really liked the hotel itself, the location near the waterfall, and within walking distance of all the attractions. Nice, comfortable room 303. Cleaning was carried out daily, soap and shampoo were also always put on water. Two towels and a bathrobe per person. I would like to note that in Turkey, 5* hotels do not have bathrobes everywhere. And most importantly - responsive staff! When checking in, there were only hangers in the closet and the robe was small, after contacting the reception, they immediately brought us more hangers and replaced the robe.
The dining room is located on the 7th floor with a beautiful, panoramic view.
The food is delicious, homemade.
For breakfast, eggs, pancakes, cheeses, sausages, casseroles, vegetables, fruits (apples, grapes) cottage cheese, breakfast cereals, porridges, dumplings or dumplings, sausages.
I was pleasantly surprised that butter and cheeses are natural!
I really liked the dumplings, and the casserole with cheese and waxes. Breakfast started at 8:30 and dinner at 18 :30 if you go to the very beginning, you will see a big queue, but if you come 15 minutes later, there will be no queue. Which we then did. The dishes were always replenished and there was enough for everyone..I've been to many places (Turkey, Tunisia, Egypt, the Emirates), but it's my first time in Abkhazia and we really liked it!
We will definitely come to Grand Athos as well!

We rested at the hotel from September 8 to September 14, 2023, the food is quite good, we were not hungry, we opened the dining room clearly on time, people take turns coming in. There was no cleaning in the room, we did not need it in principle, the smell of sewage in the toilet, the hood did not save, the balcony was constantly open, the curtains were kept on their word of honor, the hooks were bent, weak, somehow they hung themselves and moved carefully so that it would not come off again. Sun beds and umbrellas are free at the sea, but in the morning it is better to take a towel, there is not enough for everyone. In principle, the hotel is not bad, the price is too high. This is a solid three, minus the service, put the bathroom in order, the hood and update the cornice or at least the hooks for curtains, these are small things, but it causes discomfort.
Which lock started a conversation on the phone with a dissatisfied tone, when asked to send information to the booking number, for some reason she started a conversation that she couldn't hear well, although she was talking on speakerphone, it was terrible, there was even a lot of rating 1 for such a service.
