This is a place for conquerors of small peaks. There are 2 roads to the mountain. One is paved for most people, about 2.5 km, with an acceptable climb, in the second part of the way with a lot of monkeys. The other one, which goes immediately to the left, has a steep road, 1.6km, but you will remember them:) for those who like to overcome difficulties. We chose the 2nd route and didn't regret it. Take a stick with you or look for it as you climb, because monkeys can be aggressive, especially when there are a lot of them. Upstairs, the views are not particularly attractive, and there are no viewing platforms, everything is half-abandoned. This place is just for walking and contact with primates (they took away our water bottle).
The turnoff to Monkey Mountain can be reached by bus, then up the hill along an asphalt road. Somewhere in the middle of the way there will be a turn to the temple complex. It's a very beautiful place. If you are traveling on your own and you find yourself in the absence of tour groups, you will be the only visitor. It's worth it.
Monkeys will meet you at the top of the hill. Further on, according to the classics: do not provoke, do not tease with food, do not climb to the cubs. And you will have a great time in their company.
We visited this place, the impressions were very unpleasant. The monkeys behaved very aggressively, especially those who were at the end of the way, there were a lot of them, whole flocks, they took out a bottle of water to drink, the monkey noticed this, immediately decided to take the bottle away, the husband could barely hold on, so it didn't stop there, the monkey nevertheless decided to take "his own", attacked, she began to hiss and scratched her leg, then somehow managed to fight back, we left there, further along the way, we didn't get anything anymore, one monkey just liked our black backpack, she jumped on our shoulders, when trying to throw it off, she also scratched her shoulder. It was already very scary to go further, it's good that they found a stick (if they had known, they would have taken it from the very beginning, but unfortunately, no one warns about it, because they are so aggressive that even if you don't show any signs of attention to them and just walk, they can still attack) but even with a stick, some monkeys made attempts to attack. I advise you to think a thousand times before going there.
The place is fire. After reading reviews that monkeys are wild and dangerous, I was about to take a stick from below to fight back, but still very afraid for myself and my phone, we went.By a very strange coincidence, we were not picked up from the hotel at 4 a.m. for a guided tour, so we decided to go explore the area early in the morning. We took a taxi to the bottom of the mountain and started walking. And as they say, whatever is done is for the best.Since we found ourselves on this mountain at 8 a.m., we found ourselves feeding monkeys and the complete absence of other people and pleasant weather, the sun was not too hot yet.It feels like you're the main character of some jungle movie. The monkeys ate and went about their business. Therefore, if you do not try to touch them somehow, tease, scare, etc., but just walk carefully between them and do not interfere, you get a great walk. You don't piss them off-they don't hurt you.I definitely recommend visiting the place, go in the morning. The view from the observation deck is also good, it's a bonus.I'm also glad that this place is free, although it wouldn't be a pity to give money for it.
I don't advise anyone who doesn't like monkeys to come here, but I adore them. It's very hard lifting, but it's not a hindrance for me. You can contact monkeys, and they even sat on my feet. These are real wild thieves, for example, they are very fond of water and often try to steal it. Not everyone will like this place, but for me it is one of the best memories in Phuket.
Great place, very interesting, so many impressions!)) Monkeys are cute, funny, and love to take away water and food. It's better to take a stick, they're afraid of it) If you are carrying water in your hands, they will try to take it away, it is better to give it immediately without resistance)
An incredible place with incredible monkeys. A 20-minute climb along the jungle awaits you, with a couple of macaques along the way. But when you reach the observation deck, you will be surrounded by about 30 monkeys. Even if you didn't bring anything with you, they'll get into your pockets! One monkey, when he couldn't find anything there, got angry and bit me in the side through my T-shirt. It's dangerous, but it's worth coming here for these emotions, and for the sake of the view, of course!
We were scared by the aggression of monkeys. We took a minimum of things with us. And at the foot they got sticks. But the monkeys were completely indifferent to us. The only thing was that I had to give up the water bottle, and the monkey had a death grip. In general, it is very interesting to observe their lives. There were staff on duty on the mountain, and they rode by on a bike, and so the girl walked, answered the questions of tourists. And she fed them something from the palm of her hand, like dry food. But they didn't flock to her, they seemed well-fed. It is very difficult to climb up in the heat. We didn't get to the very end of the observation deck. We had enough impressions. We sat in a cafe on the way back)
You should only climb the mountain if you are healthy. Very high. A long steep climb to the observation deck. It was a mistake to bring bananas to feed the monkeys. They are wild, hungry and there are a lot of them. When they see bananas, they practically attack. Trying to take it away. A bottle of lemonade was taken away from my son.
After reading reviews about the aggression of monkeys, they behaved there with great alertness to these animals. Monkeys behave wildly, but there is no such thing as pouncing on people, unless, of course, they tease her and do not get too close.
This is the first time I've seen a place where you can watch animals in the wild (not through glass or bars) for free.
The locals drive them away with slingshots (shoot berries and nuts at them).
It's worth a trip, especially if you come to Phuket Town on your own.
About 15-20 minutes from the center.

The Monkey Hills are open around the clock.
There is a parking lot at the foot of the hill, for 50 baht you can ride a golf cart higher to the cafe and look at the macaques - they are already hanging out there, of course you can climb even higher, but there is no point in climbing to the very top because there are no more monkeys there.
Wear closed clothes and sneakers because monkeys can bite, they are also attracted to bags that rustle and bottles of water. They will try to take it away.
They are not particularly afraid of sticks, but they are afraid of STONES IN THEIR HANDS. It's enough to show them that you have a stone and they quickly move away.
We enjoyed walking there, we advise you to visit at least once. If you follow all precautions, you will get a good experience! The macaques are very cute, and you can also see their cubs there.
Hide the bottles from these ancestors. At the sight of any bubble, these macaques lose everything human and turn into a typical grandfather drunk from the entrance. They'll grab their clothes, stare with bloodshot eyes, and convulse until they get their hands on the bottle (they don't care what's inside the bottle anymore, it's on some subconscious level)
Awesome place 👍 they don't let you go up on transport, you have to stomp on foot, in principle, it's not stressful. Monkeys are found almost immediately. And anyway, they hang out in groups throughout the climb. If you carry water with you, then hide it.,
The place is very impressive, especially if you like monkeys) They don 't pay attention to people if you don 't attract them to yourself . If you are going to this wonderful place, maybe my comment will help you:
1) Photo/video without enthusiasm, without interfering with the private property of monkeys))
2) It is better to arrive without handbags, packages, because this will attract attention to yourself
3) it is forbidden to feed animals and bring food with you, except for water. You can buy water right on the spot and give it away, or the monkeys will come and take the bottle themselves)
4) And of course I do not recommend touching animals, they are wild after all, and no one is responsible for the consequences except you
These monkeys can be enraged by absolutely anything, because of which they can attack a person. I advise you to wear closed clothes there, and monophonic and not bright. The monkeys didn't like my black and white elephant pants, so they threw themselves and scratched. One of them decided to eat a button off her shirt for some reason.
In short, this is absolutely wild nature, in which man does not interfere at all. Unfortunately, no one will help you here. If you're lucky, the monkeys won't touch you, if you're not lucky, they'll swoop in, tear your clothes and scratch you. The main thing is not to show them teeth and not to keep eye contact. Because of this, they begin to hiss, go to a meeting and rush.
Also, nowhere is it indicated at all that there are a lot of spiders there. They are absolutely everywhere: around you, above you, under you. There are huge webs between the trees and pillars, on which quite large spiders sit. If you have arachnophobia, then think about whether you can stand it or not.
There is a high probability that after such a walking route, your legs will hurt in the morning. You can rent an electric scooter downstairs, but I don't know how the monkeys react to them. Moreover, in some places, monkeys occupy absolutely the entire road, which is simply impossible to pass.
Just understand that this is not exactly a fun place. For everyone in their own way. No one knows how it might end.
It's a cool place, wear comfortable shoes because stomping 5km uphill, you can rent an electric scooter right there, but it's more fun on foot))) you can buy cold water right there.
An interesting place, we got into the season when the cubs had just appeared. At this moment, people don't care at all if you don't climb up to them yourself. The route is not easy, so wear something more comfortable than crocs
If you want to see about 300 monkeys running from all sides, come by 12 o'clock and climb the mountain (about 2 km probably - even higher than the first observation decks), there will be a parking lot, where a car will arrive at about 12:40 with a full trunk of food. Monkeys will run from all sides of the mountain to this place at the click of their fingers! People are not touched at all, only the driver who feeds them! But we were without food! The main thing is not to feed or teach yourself - then they calmly pass by you. But when there are hundreds of monkeys around you, it's impressive and scary
I do not share the general enthusiasm. At the bottom in front of the entrance, slightly rotten bananas are sold in a web more expensive than in the market, followed by a sign that it is forbidden to feed and a photo and description of various diseases that can be infected from monkeys, including rabies. I do not recommend taking food or getting water with them. You will not be deprived of attention. They pull everything out of their hands, hiss, and behave quite aggressively. We walked in a crowd with strangers, they didn't touch us, but hissed. but the higher, the fewer people there were. And we were left alone on the observation deck. I sat down to rest, and a monkey jumped on me. When I took it off, it bit me. After reading posters about rabies, I urgently went to the hospital. We did not attract attention to ourselves in any way, we did not provoke them. When we went downstairs, there were two more victims, one girl with a severe leg bite and a child with a bandaged arm. I realized that I got off very easily, and bites are not uncommon there. IN ANY CASE, do not drag the children there! Before that, we were on an excursion to the monkey temple, there are the sweetest creatures there. They are absolutely wild here! I do not recommend it as an observation deck, the Buddha is much more beautiful and you can ride a moped.
A very interesting place :)
Bananas are the safest food, nuts are pulled out at once.
Yes, a big stick or a stone and a hand will help you a lot, you don't need to use them- just carry them and let them see) it's better to go with a company or get acquainted on the spot and go hangout)
We were walking right in front of NG, it was very hot and stuffy, but there is a stall upstairs - 100 Baht water, but it doesn't matter 😅
It's scary, very scary😂 after going here I found out that I'm afraid of monkeys🫣 some just run after you, they're not afraid of any sticks) and yes, if it seems to you that they don't see you- look up, maybe 20 monkeys are looking at you from the trees😂 one of them stole my raincoat, so what if you see pink polyethylene on one of the trees- you know, it was my raincoat😂😂

We really liked it, one of the places to visit in Phuket. The monkeys did not touch us, but we need to follow the advice from the reviews: do not carry food and water in your hands, do not walk alone, do not provoke, you must walk with a stick, no one will touch you just like that

Incomparable creatures!!)))
The package with durian was taken away instantly, so with the packages carefully, put everything in a backpack.Going uphill is quite difficult, but there is a large flock of these cuties. One almost bit me, because I came up from behind and wanted to sit down and take a picture, but she didn't appreciate this action.

As soon as you arrive at this place, you are immediately surrounded by a huge number of monkeys. We chose the usual bananas for the treat, although many people already take them without much pleasure. And, I would like to say, bananas were the most correct choice, since those with nuts , corn , etc. - monkeys pounce on people and snatch food without being shy of anyone at all. And going without food is probably even better-they will look at you without interest. We didn't reach the observation deck - the higher we got, the fewer people we came across. We didn't take the risk. The bag was not torn out, the glasses were not removed - everything remained with me. On the way back I had to pick up a stick, they surrounded me for once or twice. Of course, it's worth visiting monkeys, it's very interesting to watch them in nature. But, people, be careful! It is not known what to expect from them. When I started taking pictures, one of them grinned at me, I backed away, I was very scared😄
Great place don't scare people in the reviews! Write nonsense. I'm telling you what you need to make it great there:
1) Don't be afraid, take a bunch of bananas and a couple of bags of Nuts
2) Don't go there alone, from two or more
3) Here, hide a bag of fruits and nuts under your shirt or T-shirt
4) Take a good stick, just in case they are afraid if they hold it in front of them when the big one wants to jump
5) remove all items, go there with a minimum set, a maximum of the phone and then hold it in your hands, monkeys can just pick it up
6) it's very good there, don't be afraid
7) if the monkey has already hooked a banana or a nut with his hands, give it back
8) they grab their clothes with their hands, don't be afraid, you can threaten them with a stick and they will leave
I'll attach a couple of photos. Good luck! The place is great, I've personally been there 3 times!
A great place to cheer up :)) The parking lot has now been demolished at the very bottom. So it's a bit hard to climb 2 km in the heat. They don't take bananas or anything else with them except water
It's a terrible place, aggressive monkeys run around cars, almost broke the mirror, climb through windows, hang themselves on clothes, show their teeth, one bit me until I bled because I ran out of nuts, now it's not pleasant procedures. We never got to the end.Only local dogs save, they are very friendly, and monkeys are afraid of them. The place is free, food for monkeys is on sale, but it's better not to show it to them, the price of food is not high.
The monkeys are very cute, it's interesting to watch them. I advise you to go up the mountain without valuables, or hide them under your clothes. Monkeys can be fed bananas or nuts, it is better to do this in front of the caretakers. It was scary in places, big monkeys can run up and grab food. A little monkey ran up to me and pulled on my sandals 🐒
It's hard to climb, but if you climb to the top, you will see very beautiful views. It is better not to approach monkeys on purpose. If you bought food, throw it all at once because the monkeys will see and everyone will run to you.
Overall, the place is good, but I strongly recommend not visiting it with children. Do not buy treats for monkeys at the entrance, because as soon as they see you with packages, they will try to attack the whole pack and bite. It is better to go up to the observation deck and just contemplate. Don't forget - monkeys are carriers of rabies and many other unpleasant diseases, put it on the scales when you want to take a keepsake photo with them. Also, there are several large packs of dogs on the mountain, they are harmless.
Before visiting, I read the reviews and was very afraid, in fact it turned out not so scary, it was hard to climb the mountain, but it's worth it, there are a lot of monkeys, a lot, they gave us advice to take a stick and it was very useful to us, a couple of times the monkeys tried to jump. On the observation deck, the monkeys were calmer, came very close and without the slightest aggression.
It is a relatively difficult climb, monkeys react to an attempt to open the bag, be careful, it is better to give what they want than to try to show aggression. An interesting experience of interacting with monkeys.
There are a lot of monkeys , sometimes they can be aggressive .If they see food , they climb right on top of people .One tried to steal my water, and when I grabbed the bottle, she pretended to rush at me)The view from the observation deck is not the best, but I recommend visiting.
