I would like to say a very endearing colorful character, if not for his negative features - he is rude, speaks Russian poorly, although he reproaches you all the time that you do not know Russian yourself, we marked our route, he indicated its duration, as a result, we did not meet 1.5 hours. I am a fan of extreme sports, ropejumping, parachuting, downhill skiing, but all this does not compare with this hike to the mamzyshka on horseback, the horses slide and stumble on a steep stone slope. It is unlikely that you will be able to ride horses not in a caravan, when the horses are tied to each other one after the other. It will be remembered for a lifetime, it is very scary and uncomfortable

I recommend going: you can get from summer to winter.
By car, you can get to the place from which you can walk 4-5 km to the top, which is 2-3 hours.
By SUV to the parking lot on the rocky ascent - then a 3.5 km walk through the alpine zone.
It is better to go not by a short road, but by a detour - there is a better road.
You need to go to the start early in the morning, at a maximum of 9 to start the exit: if later, then there is a high probability that the views will tighten the clouds.
The only pity is that the humps of Elbrus are not visible from the top.

We got here first by car, the road is beautiful and, as long as there is asphalt, you can safely drive even a sedan. You can get to the place where the paragliders begin their flight.
Further, only on foot, or with the help of local people in their cars, usually UAZ. The view is certainly magnificent. There are many mountains and you are on one of the peaks.......

It's just super! The views at the top are gorgeous! We were lucky, we were alone. Nobody!
We left after lunch, around one o'clock. After turning off the main highway, we drove uphill along a 25 km serpentine (Skoda Yeti car) on the so-called asphalt. In some places the road is good, in some places there is practically no road.In one place, almost the whole road was covered with boulders. Only the passage for one car was cleared. There is a sinkhole in the road in another place. But there are a lot of blackberries along the road!Jeeps were flying at breakneck speed to the meeting. After 25 km, the asphalt ended. The result is that you can drive! We stopped and left the car in a clearing. There are already jeeps and horses waiting for you to offer their lifting services. But we're on foot. If you have the strength and time, I advise you to go this way only. To the top (there is a flag) 5 km. We (not very athletic) overcame them in an hour and a half. 2.5 km the road goes through the forest on a rocky road (there are no signs - this is bad. We were guided only by the tracks of cars). There are very steep and protracted climbs. Sometimes it's a little hard. It's not hot in here.There are puddles of mud, but you can get around it.Then the forest ended and the mountain meadows began with a winding, also with a rocky path. Another kilometer. The sun is already shining here. It's getting hot. The sea is already visible. The view is beautiful. There are some houses right there and again smart young people offer a horse to the top. Like walking another 3 km. And in fact there are only 1.5 km left. So, don't get fooled by the suggestions, but go through everything yourself. When you reach the top on foot, you will feel the beauty of climbing. At the top, we enjoyed the views, made a stop, and had a snack.
It was easier to go back down, but not in rainy weather. Consider this. We were at the car at about 6.30 pm. We were descending in the clouds and it was already getting dark. On the way there is an observation deck at Gagra.
There are a lot of people at the top in the afternoon before lunch. So, when and how to go, decide for yourself.

If you take an excursion, you will be taken almost to the very peak of the mountain. The last km of the road, the most terrible ones, are always up on large boulders.
We drove our car (land cruiser) and reached the sign: Mount Mamzyshkha 500m. They walked from him. Xs who wrote that there are 500 meters, from there to the mountain itself (the highest point) 4km and always uphill!
But part of the road goes through the forest, and part of the road is a gentle rise, the 10-year-old child coped.
In my opinion, if you have already started climbing, then it makes sense to go all the way to the top. To see all the beauty.
Almost at the very top there are locals, there are "cafes" selling kebabs, meat, cheeses, goat's milk. Kebab 400₽, milk 1L 500₽.
You can ride a horse up the price from 1000-1500₽.

A place of power! It's amazing that there are so few people, it's rare where it's so deserted in the season. A trip to Mamdyshka is a whole adventure! We reached the end of the asphalt (badly broken in places, there is even a section with a sinkhole), tried to go further along the rocky dirt road, but decided to regret the car (Volkswagen Tiguan), go only on something higher like a field or jeep, which carry tourists. And that's it! In some places on the dirt road there are angles of arrival at 45 degrees and dirt and boulders and puddles the size of a lake, it is dangerous to drive without an experienced driver and a high four-wheel drive car. Jeeps take you almost to the top of the mountain, but they almost do not give you time to enjoy the beauty, but there is something to enjoy. No wonder we walked from the end of the asphalt, it's about 5 km. Our way up took an hour and a half at a sooooo measured pace, with breaks for admiring and photographing, with a visit to the neighboring hilltops along the way. It was much faster to go down, and from the booths we were taken to the car on horseback for 1000 rubles per person. What an adventure, by the way. If I had known that it would be so scary to ride a horse down the steep slopes of the trail, it would have been better to walk, to be honest🙈 In general, the trail is not difficult, it is difficult in the forest in the sections up, in the Alpine meadows it is generally comfortable👍🏻 A cool breeze, the aromas of herbs, occasionally jeeps drive by. They also offer to ride horses from the booths (this is already in the meadows) to the top and back for 1,500 per person, but we never regretted that we went the last 2 km on foot😍 there is no time to enjoy the views on horseback at all. Is it worth going? I think the photos will speak for themselves⛰️🏞️☁️ we left Gagra at about 11, returned at about 18.00. One of the best days in Abkhazia!!!

The mountain is, of course, a separate art form. We are very glad that we went there in our car. Kia Sorento 2006. We reached the top. The local guides were extremely surprised. Since they don't drive there except for UAZ. But I will say right away the adventure is something else. Of course, it's better to regret the car and not drive over those boulders that are waiting there on the way. You can get to the first observation deck and, in principle, to the second one by sedan. Leave it there and then for 3000 rubles you will be taken to the booths. Unless, of course, there will be uazs on the observation deck.
I advise you to visit. The views are certainly stunning.

Magnificent view. We went up with an unprepared child of 7 years. The ascent is comfortable. Who doubts - do not doubt. Mamzyshkha is a great option to try yourself in mountain travel. Take a thermos and sandwiches with you when you go up - have fun at the top, enjoying the view and eating tea sandwiches!

The place is super!!!!! The view from the mountain is gorgeous! The road certainly let you down! There were a couple of places where the car passed within millimeters of the mountain and the cliff. The first observation deck is beautiful and well maintained, but the second one... It is in a very neglected state, it has not been repaired since the Soviet era.

The adventure turned out to be incredible!
Everything happened at once.
On the way to Mamzyshkha Mountain, we were greeted by spring and blooming mimosa groves, just in time for March 8.
At an altitude of 1200, we abandon the cars and transfer to snowmobiles and snowmobiles. Another hour's journey along the snow-covered serpentine with magnificent views of the Black Sea.
At 1550 we were greeted by a warm house with a sauna, where we had a snack, changed clothes and drove to the top of Mamzyshkh.
Smooth snow-covered sinkholes are not just beautiful, but fascinatingly attractive. Riding and walking there in winter turned out to be an incredible experience. It came to an understanding of how such huge caves were formed. The snow on the peaks melts into giant funnels and goes all the way to the foot, washing out the rock from the mountains. Look at the Mamzysh from space, it will become clear.
And of course the booths, I've heard about them many times and couldn't imagine what it was. Some photos show the roofs of small houses in which any traveler can hide from the weather, they are open in winter. In the summer, when the snow comes down and the mountains are covered with various grasses, local residents settle in the booths with their herds of cows, goats, sheep, and horses.

About 25 km of asphalt, even if not solid, then a rocky road, it's scary, but you can drive an SUV, and the last 3 km is probably on foot (500m climb over rocks and a forest path, the rest through alpine meadows).
