We vacationed in Sri Lanka in February 2024, stayed at this hotel. A great budget option. It is located on the main tourist street of Unawatuna. The ocean is a 5-minute walk away (the ocean is clean and very warm). The hotel is small, the staff is friendly, the administrator knows the necessary set of Russian words, which does not cause problems in communication, and the entire staff speaks English. We had a room for three people, spacious enough, clean. Bottles of water, tea, and coffee in bags were brought every day. There is a refrigerator, a safe, a kettle, an air conditioner (there is no way without it at all). Wi-Fi works well. A room with a balcony. A comfortable shower room with good plumbing, hot water was always available, there were no power outages. The linen was changed every three days, the room was cleaned on demand, even every day, they always asked about it at breakfast. You need to ask for beach towels, they are always there. We took it ourselves at the reception every day. The hotel has a small swimming pool, but we never used it (we flew to the ocean, not to basik). We took only breakfast, restaurant service, everything is brought by waiters. Breakfasts are quite monotonous: scrambled eggs or omelet, vegetables, fruits, tea or coffee (not bad), fruit jute, toast, jam, pancakes, in general, you will not stay hungry.
The first impression was not very good, then we got used to it. We arrived at this hotel and were horrified, where did such high marks come from? There is no pool - it is cold and small, it goes out onto a noisy road, no one goes there, it is locked. There is no reception either - there is a sofa and a counter and that's it. We are shocked, from where to the 4* hotel, we stopped at
3* so there is a gorgeous reception, we offered welcome drinks. But there's nothing here. The room itself is good. If there was a pool, it would be nicer. The breakfasts and dinners are good. The staff is trying hard. The cleaning is so-so. The towels are all old, stained, some torn. After 1 use, they turned gray. There is no zone where you can sit pleasantly in the evening, for example, it is generally unclear what to do in the evening
Overall not bad, a comfortable huge bed, change of towels, beds and cleaning every other day. There is a kettle, a hairdryer, and beach towels are provided at the reception. 2 bottles of 0.5 water are given every day. They put tea , coffee, and sugar. Coffee lovers take coffee with you. Tea or coffee is offered for breakfast, take tea, once you took coffee, it is very similar to tea. Monotonous breakfast. Omelet or fried eggs to choose from, a piece of papaya, pineapple, and banana. Freshly squeezed juice, 2 toasts per person and a teaspoon of jam for 2.
There are many animals around the hotel, peacocks, monkeys, chipmunks live in a circle.
The central tourist street. Convenient location, 3 minutes to the beach, 5 minutes to the roadway. There are a lot of cafes, souvenir shops, massage parlors around.
The disadvantage is that the air conditioner is working noisily and there is nowhere to hang the laundry. I do not advise on the balcony, a monkey came running to us in the morning and left its "trace" in the form of excrement on a towel.
