A curious sight lost in the courtyards of Istanbul. The building of the former French orphanage is a historical structure located in the Beyoglu district. It was built at the end of the 19th century as an orphanage for orphaned girls belonging to the French community of the city. It is one of the most striking examples of architecture from the era of Ottoman modernism.
In the 50s of the 20th century, the shelter moved from here, and the building passed to the next owner. The workshop of a Turkish sculptor was located here for quite a long time. As far as I understand, there are ongoing proceedings on the topic of property rights.
There is no point in stopping here for a long time: the territory is in a tired state, there were no reference signs, etc., either.
A lovely courtyard with a story, also a great location for photos.
