For 20 lari, my husband and I took a taxi to Jvari from Tbilisi in 40 minutes. We liked this option more, so we explored the monastery for almost 3 hours without looking back at anyone waiting. It was a bit problematic to leave, but as I understand it, as a last resort, local merchants can help call a taxi to Mtskheta. The way back is much more expensive (25 lars to the center of Mtskheta in 20 minutes), we saw the city there. And 2.5 laras for the bus to Tbilisi. There was no public transport from Jvari.
