A sacred place for Christians. The house of the Mother of God, where she lived after the crucifixion of Christ. They made a church out of the house. Everything in the surroundings of the house is a monastery and a museum complex in combination. The house is small. Stone. Without the frills of ancient patricians and royalty. It's a very salty place.
Maria's house is not far from Ephesus, literally 2-3 km, but you can't walk from Ephesus. A small house that now acts as a temple, candles can be placed there, entrance to the territory is paid, it costs, if memory serves me correctly, 6 euros per adult, children under 8 years old enter for free. We took a taxi there from Ephesus. It's nice there, the place is small, 30 minutes is enough to visit.
This is a building that at the end of the XIX century Catholic missionaries began to identify with the house in which the mother of Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary, lived.
of course, it's beautiful and interesting here, but for me, as an Orthodox person, I understand that this is not true
The Tomb of the Virgin Mary is located in Gethsemane, at the foot of the western slope of the Mount of Olives, in the Kedron Valley, in Jerusalem
, she spent the last years of her life in Jerusalem.
