The VALLEY OF THE QUEENS is an ancient burial site located near Luxor, It served as the final resting place of the wives and children of the pharaohs. There are simply indescribable tombs of inner beauty, very well preserved, despite the fact that they are more than 3,500 years old! More than 90 tombs have been discovered in the Valley of the Queens, although currently only a few of them are open to the public. All Egyptians believed that after death they would come to life in another world, and they were preparing very seriously for this. Therefore, during their lifetime, the rich tried to build themselves a stone tomb — a house for another world. According to the religious beliefs of the ancient Egyptians, after the death of a person, the soul continued to live, sometimes returning to the body. Therefore, they tried to preserve the body. First, the priests removed all the internal organs except the heart. The corpse was then dried with natron and finally wrapped in linen bandages. The internal organs of the deceased were stored in separate special jars. On the walls of the tombs, scenes from the lives of kings and queens and their servants were depicted, because they believed that everything painted and carved from stone could miraculously come to life. In some tombs, we saw the ceiling painted blue with patterns of yellow stars. Such decorations were found only in the tombs of the rulers. Extraordinary beauty and richness of colors! The ticket costs only $ 5 per person, but a visit to the tomb of Nefertari, wife of the famous Pharaoh Ramses ll, costs $ 80, we saved it for our next visit :) But even those tombs that we visited for a long time impressed us with their preserved paintings, ancient hieroglyphs and paints! I RECOMMEND visiting such places better in the winter months, as in summer the temperature in the desert reaches +43 * and above, and the tombs are humid and there is no ventilation. It's going to be very stuffy. Did you know that for the first time in the last 100 years, in 2022, a new original tomb of Pharaoh Thutmose ll was discovered two km from the Valley of the Kings by a British-Egyptian team of archaeologists. Although his mummified remains were discovered two hundred years ago in a hiding place above the tomb of Hatshepsut, the location of his tomb has been lost to history. The work is still underway, as the height of the embankment is 23 meters!

The place is located in Luxor, it takes more than 3 hours by bus. Historically, the place is interesting, it is very hot here because it is already a deserted part. Alas, there are many looted tombs. You can visit 3 for free (this is included in the tour price) and 1 tomb for money
