In Azerbaijani, this ancient building is called "Kyzy Galas". Its history is shrouded in various legends....
On the 3rd attempt, I managed to get inside this building. There is a pass regime for several people and the closing time in the evening is 18.00. It's a shame that visiting this place is much cheaper for locals than for foreigners (3 and 12 manats, respectively). There is a tour guide service for a fee.There is an observation deck on the roof of the tower, which is fenced with glass, it protects from the wind and does not spoil the impression of the view of the city and the sea.

Virgo, I mean, is a young unmarried girl who stops all attempts by men to "approach" her - keeps honor and loyalty to her future husband.
The maiden Tower has never been taken or conquered by anyone, although it has been besieged many times.
There are many such maiden towers: and they have never really been taken, and named after the sign, they say they called the maiden tower - no one will take it.
Interestingly, these two legends quite logically get along with each other, they quite took place in reality, so it's worth remembering both at once :)
