Just wow! We got a ticket for a ballet show a month in advance, and on the day of the event we found it got canceled... The administrator got involved and Medina and her amazing team got us tickets to the next ballet show, which was the National Ballet of Uzbekistan performing Lazgi. Mom and I were accommodated the best seats on the main floor.
And it turned out this was a milestone in my life. I have never seen such representation of cultural values. Everything was like watching the flow of water. The harmony between these dancers, the physical proximity made me shed a few drops for real, between the performers the words were not needed to communicate emotions. I now have a unique appreciation of ballet and performing arts.
Do not skip Alisher Navoiy if you're in Taskent, even in Uzbekistan. It's worth every second :)
Greetings from Istanbul! 🇹🇷 🇺🇿
GABT named after A. Navoi is the center of cultural life in Tashkent.
The repertoire of the theater includes mainly classical productions of world classics. Guest concerts, tours of foreign performances, and theater festivals are also held here.
The theater building is an architectural monument of the mid-20th century. Its courtyard depicts the wonderful world of national folklore art. The author of the design of the building was academician Alexei Shusev, who also built the mausoleum on Red Square in Moscow. The construction of the theater began in 1939. In 1942, it was suspended due to wartime difficulties, but construction continued in 1944. In November 1945, Japanese prisoners of war from the Kwantung Army were transferred to Tashkent. They were finishing the construction of the structure.
The auditorium of the GABT named after A.Navoi accommodates seats:
Stalls: 1- 10 rows — 258 seats;
Amphitheater: rows 1-11 — 222 seats;
Boxes: right and left with 15 seats each;
Balcony : 1st tier — 96 seats; 2nd tier — 84 seats.
The ticket office is open on weekdays from 11:00 to 19:00, on weekends from 10:00 to 18:00.
A beautiful building with a rich history. The halls and comfortable chairs have been restored. The repertoire is quite rich, the prices are reasonable. Concerts in front of the theater on the steps are also very impressive.
I would advise you to return the dress code and not let foreigners in the gym in shorts, hats and with food, just because they are foreigners.
We attended the opening of the 95th season of the OPEN AIR theater, we really liked it, not only our but also foreign artists performed, an unforgettable evening. The sound is amazing, but the images on the big screens were not clear, they could not convey the beauty of the outfits and the faces of the soloists, apparently they did not have time to adjust.
Begun to be built in the pre-war years of World War II and completed in difficult war times, the theater is a unique architectural structure of those times, now it is the Mecca of Central Asian culture. I recommend all tourists and guests of the capital to visit this fabulous opera and ballet palace in the winter months, which will plunge you into the magical world of ballet with its first-class symphony orchestra. If you are lucky enough to get to the ballet, Swan Lake, or The Nutcracker, you will be at the peak of the bliss of culture, which will be facilitated by the virtuoso performers of the symphony orchestra, the genius of Tchaikovsky's works, the aquistic quality of the theater, the skill of ballet performers and the solemn aura surrounding you. For residents of the capital who appreciate high art, this theater is their pride and, love for life,
The theater staff are polite, sensitive, responsive and professionals in their field.
I really liked the theater. I've seen it outside a lot of times, I like its architecture. I visited the premiere of the opera "Eugene Onegin" for the first time inside - he is so beautiful inside! I didn't even expect such chic! I liked the opera too. Onegin reread it several times, now I've listened to the opera, it's a very good production.
A beautiful building, externally in the national style, inside it is beautiful and comfortable.
We watched the ballet "Giselle", we liked it. Because I've watched this ballet more than once, I can compare it. The production is quite on the level, we enjoyed watching it. Not the Bolshoi Theatre or the Mariinsky, but very worthy. I especially liked the dancer, the main character. Thank you very much to all the artists and the director.
Excellent! Sincere and high-quality performance (if you can combine these two qualities)! I was at the Tosca opera with the participation of Russian and Uzbek singers and actors. The action lasts about 3 hours. It becomes clear even to the very uninitiated. Thanks to all the wonderful participants and employees of the theater, to everyone who is involved in this magic!!!
A brilliant theater - the hall has been wonderfully restored, and there are always wonderful voices. The premiere of the opera The Poet's Heart is a real event! It's a pity that the programs are only in Uzbek, that a very expensive buffet is more expensive than tickets to the stalls!!! And some of the audience should still be taken out of the hall - they talk in full voice during the performance
Yesterday I had the good fortune to visit our beloved Bolshoi... at a joint concert in Uzbekistan~Hungary.
Huge thanks to all the participants of this magnificent Music Festival!!!!
Yesterday, on November 17, the ballet "Swan Lake" was staged at the GABT. The administrator of the theater is a lovely woman, success, shouts of bravo, the audience did not want to leave, the orchestra, the prima ballerinas, all the participants of the ballet, the audience, meeting and seeing off, foreign guests, everyone is amazed by the ballet, we thank the administrator and all the participants of the amazing ballet ...
Musicologist- art critic.
A great place, a chic environment where you can discover something new from the world of creativity every time.Ballet, Opera and all concerts are always great!!!
An amazing architectural structure, originally from the USSR. The Opera and Ballet Theater named after Alisher Navoi (poet, philosopher)
Thanks to architect Shchusev for this wonderful theater, built for centuries, survived a terrible earthquake.
The ballet company is wonderful.
This is, of course, the mecca of Tashkent intellectuals, ballet lovers and good costumed performances. Everything from the scenery, costumes to the acting is done at the highest level. However, the current management of the theater does not care at all about the condition of the san nodes, as well as a big bias towards the opera component, ballet art is the theater's specialty!
We watched the opera Bohemia. The overall impression is good, but the acoustics from the stage are poor, the voice is very muffled.
As for the staff of the theater and the organization, it's just a circus: 1) at the entrance they asked to show the wallet 🫡 2) there is gilding on the walls, but there is no SOAP!!! in the toilets - a classic of state institutions of Uzbekistan (it should be a shame) 3) during the intermission, you barely have time to run to drink water in the buffet 4) after the performance, the lights turn off in the hall after 5 minutes, it is impossible to take a photo or make a promise, in all other rooms they do the same, immediately after the performance, the staff turn off the lights everywhere and look forward to when you take your jacket and leave as soon as possible (it has passed only 10 minutes from the end of the performance and the time is 20:10, Sunday).... All the chic of a cultural institution is broken down by lack of culture and the advice of the staff 😖
A wonderful theater. It is immediately visible and felt that the building is historical. I would like a variety in the buffet, but it will do. We were on the example of Eugene Onegin.
GABT named after. Alisher Navai is the heritage of the motherland! Performances, ballets, children's performances and concerts take place in a fabulous, beautiful and cozy atmosphere. Go to the theater more often, live music, dancing, opera, it helps to relax psychologically and morally
Every time I come to Tashkent, I try to get to this theater - an amazing place! Firstly, the building itself is beautiful: it is the academic theater that is unmistakably recognizable in it, while oriental notes give a special flavor. The interiors deserve special attention, it's nice to go around all the floors and corners and enjoy the cozy and at the same time luxurious oriental aesthetics. The productions are always classic, coming to Puccini or Verdi you don't risk getting into some kind of avant-garde experiment, which is an obvious plus for me personally! Pleasant cafe, helpful staff. The repertoire, orchestra and troupe are also highly commendable.
A wonderful theater, a wonderful evening
We visited the beautiful Firebird ballet and the equally beautiful but complex Sacred Spring
I was a little upset by the absence of the orchestra, but it did not affect the overall impression
Good afternoon.
In recent days, I have visited two ballets: Swan Lake and 1000 and one night.
The first thing I like is the theater itself. Beautiful. Spacious. There are 6 beautiful halls on three floors, which are decorated in marble in the traditional style of the regions of the Republic.
The auditorium itself is beautiful and comfortable.
I watched both from the 1st tier and from the amphitheater. The scene is clearly visible everywhere. The seats are soft. The hall is beautiful, decorated with gold.
The orchestra pit is well located, the sound of the orchestra is beautiful: when you sit at the top, you can also watch the musicians playing.
But the most important thing is, of course, the ballet itself.
Very good artists were invited to play the roles of soloists. But the performance of the artists of our theater is also impressive. I can't list all of them and I don't want to offend those I won't name, but they are: Olga Sabirova, Sunnat Temirov, Anastasia Kistanova, Valeria Borsi, Daniyar Hasmanov and all of them.
I was impressed by the scenery and the light.
I also noted the chic costumes.
The staff of the theater is professional and responsive.
I will definitely come here again and again.
Five plus.
The Alisher Navoi Theater is a historical building in Tashkent, and it is interesting in itself.
We attended a concert of the ballet troupe of the theater. The concert consisted of popular numbers from different ballets, so we had the opportunity to see different artists dancing both classical and modern dances.
It is very nice to see that culture is developing in Uzbekistan, that there are excellent experienced dancers and a new generation in the team
We didn't have enough programs at the concert, so we didn't remember the numbers and the artists, which is very sad.
And another wish is that the theater has a full repertoire in May. There are a lot of tourists in Tashkent in May, and we are sure that there would be opera and ballet connoisseurs among them.
And, of course, full houses and prosperity!
As guests from the city of Samara, we were pleasantly surprised by the skill level of opera singers from Tashkent. I really liked Alisher Navoi's opera. Decorations, lights, costumes, dancing. Come on tour to Samara. Success will be guaranteed to you.
A beautiful theater, it's interesting inside, the hall is good, there is a buffet, all the attributes of the theater) Further impressions will depend on the performance that you are watching. The production of "The Nutcracker" in 2023 was for an amateur, not a classic reading, but the costumes are good) In general, I recommend visiting, ticket prices are reasonable.
"Are you theater lovers, as I love it?" Yesterday we went to "Aleko". The architecture of the theater is as wonderful as it was many years ago, there are no complaints about the staff and artists. The theater is beautiful both outside and inside. That's it! The acoustics are very bad, they sang to the soundtrack. But most of all, I was unpleasantly surprised by the audience . They shout, whistle, many sit and do not applaud. It is a pity that our people are not ready to perceive opera and ballet as the supreme force of art.
We came to the New Year's "Nutcracker". The interior was decorated with themed decorations of the Mouse King, the Nutcracker, etc. The most beautiful excerpts from the work were played by the Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan. Beautiful costumes.
The building of the theater itself is worthy of a separate tour.
I really love that theater. In principle, I love theater, opera and ballet. I always try to be here when I come to Tashkent. I really like how they dance ballet and express emotions through movements. I also love opera, which allows you to feel the experience of the actors through their beautiful voices. The theater itself is just like a work of art. I recommend it to everyone.
A very beautiful place , reasonable prices, good stage staff, always very carefully selected scenery and costumes, I advise everyone to visit this theater more often
On the 15th, they came to Onegin, the parking lot was closed, the guardsman at the gate was rude and did not allow parking, referring to the director of the theater, what kind of attitude is this to the client? Tickets were bought for the second row for decent money! There are no parking areas around the theater, and there are no prohibition signs everywhere! The mood is spoiled with such an ignorant attitude, culture cannot be raised dear!
The theater is very old, they are very careful about it in order to preserve the history.I like performances, unfortunately, in the summer, when I came to the city as a tourist, I could not visit because the theater is on vacation
We went to the play for 12 months on 9.01.24. Everything is fine: acting, costumes, special effects, scenery… But all this is overshadowed by the fact that the actors completely speak and sing under plywood from beginning to end🙄🤦♀️ Why is this and why? For me, this is categorically unacceptable, it's a hack job, otherwise you can't say. We are going to the theater for a live performance and PERFORMANCE as well! Please ask the administration to take action in this matter
Super! I'm thrilled! I've always dreamed of watching a play at the A Navoi cinema. The interior is great! The atmosphere is amazing! Ballet gives you goosebumps!
The Opera and Ballet Theater is gorgeous outside and inside.
There are various productions, including international performances.
Prices from $4
It is quite stuffy in summer, cool enough in winter.
A theater in the center of the capital. A beautiful theater square with a fountain. You can park on Bukhara Street to the side of the theater. The most beautiful theater in the capital. It is highlighted in the evening. A huge hall, very good sound. A champagne buffet. Everything to taste the theatrical delights. Opera, ballet, if also a foreign performance, is a complete delight. The local troupe has something to strive for, working in such beauty, surely comes with a special inspiration.
A gorgeous theater. Beautiful architecture, acoustics, hall. Comfortable chairs, a stage, the theater troupe really liked it. They perform well. I really liked Aleko's opera, romances to the music of Rachmaninov, the most gorgeous ballet Humo! I definitely recommend it! The most important thing is that I visited this theater twice for free - it was dedicated to the Navruz holiday! It turns out they have a good tradition!
The theater is classic. Ballet is on top. The hall itself is decent, the chairs are comfortable. There is a small buffet. A clean toilet. I was surprised by the lack of programs.
It is a very beautiful and my favorite theater.I recently attended a charity concert of the national ensemble "Tumor".We listened to the concert with pleasure. The interior is clean and tidy.
The dressing rooms do not work, you go with jackets and bags, you would like to work not only on performances but also in comfort and coziness.
Well, the performances are great, of course. I'm giving you a standing ovation.
Above all praise, a wonderful theater, with great artists. Considering the number of the capital's artists (I live in St. Petersburg), I consider the quality of the presented performance (ballet) meets high criteria. Bravo Ballet Company
A very beautiful theater, a good orchestra. But: no one met us at the entrance, and then they shouted at us about tickets across the hall. The staff is not watching the audience - people are shooting with a flash.
And the most important problem is the quality of the ballet performance. The dancers of the corps de ballet do not build straight lines, do not line up the dance pattern symmetrically and do not dance synchronously. Among the soloists there are artists falling from pirouettes. I would like to see the best performance quality from the main theater of the country
One of the city's favorite theaters.
A mandatory visit!
It is impossible to get into such a high-level theater in other countries of the world, but we still have the opportunity.
Go, you won't regret it.
Japanese prisoners of war participated in the construction.
A wonderful theater!!! In October, I was lucky enough to get to the ballet, a wonderful performance, a magnificent orchestra!!! The interiors of the theater certainly deserve the attention of tourists. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening!
In January of this year, visitors to this wonderful GABT named after A.Navoi. The performance was called Twelve Months. It is very warm and very beautiful inside. There is a dressing room. In addition, you can take a walk inside after the performance.
A beautiful, clean, large theater. It can be seen that it has been restored not long ago, absolutely everywhere new velvet upholstery of chairs and railings, seating on 3 floors, opens up good visibility of the stage from all sides. We attended a New Year's Children's performance, which was held in Russian. This one is beautiful and mesmerizing
A wonderful place appeared in the post-war years according to the project of academician Shchusyev. The ticket was sold by a charming curvy cashier with a mustache, apparently one of the Bukharian Jews. Tashkent has its own ballet school and dance culture. Even in the summer, we managed to watch the Nutcracker, "porcelain" dancers, a lot of positive impressions, including from the local tradition - after the 3rd bell, a group of pensioners without tickets was launched into the hall, waiting for permission at the entrance, and seated in the stalls..
