The road to the "Elephant Village" passed under a heated argument from a family sitting next door. Mom told her teenage daughter that elephants for Thais are like pets for urban Russians, or like a cow for villagers, that they have been born, live and die among people for a long time, that they will not survive outside this village, that the state allocates lifelong maintenance for each elephant (a kind of elephant pension). But the teenager, with the maximalism characteristic of this age, demanded "freedom for parrots" - to close the office, disperse the Thai owners, release the elephants into the wild. Arriving at the place, we saw a cozy, tourist-themed playground. Russian russians took a ride on a young elephant, to the song of the "mahout" in broken Russian -

don't freeze me, my ELEPHANT", took a course in obscene Russian with a Thai flavor in the form of ditties, staged a race with a neighboring couple on an elephant (we won, and our proudly christened "Ferrari Elephant"). In general, we did not notice any violence or ill-treatment, although no, at the end of the tour there was aggression and intemperance... to us, we saw an elephant standing alone, with a small chain on its leg, nailed to the ground with a peg, deprived of bananas and the attention of visitors, we decided to eliminate this injustice. As soon as we approached him, we heard the heart-rending scream of our guide and a rude warning that if an elephant tramples us to death, then we would have no complaints to the travel agency. It will be necessary to write a complaint against this guide to the World Organization for the Protection of Wild Tourists.
