"Crazy House" is considered one of the most striking attractions in Vietnam today. This hotel in Dalat, which is included in the top ten most unusual buildings in the world, still continues to grow, and its territory is replenished with new unusual buildings. All the buildings on the territory of the hotel, which is an operating hotel with ten rooms where you can stay overnight, are built of concrete and painted with bright colors. No less interesting than the story of the creation of the Moon Villa, and this was the original name, is the story of the owner of this unusual structure.
Dang Viet Nga, the creator of "Crazy House", better known as Han Ga and Madame Natasha, is the daughter of Truong Tinh, the former chairman of the State Council of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Since 1986, her father was also the General secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the country. But long before Truong Tinh began to occupy leading government positions, the former revolutionary sent his daughter to study in the Soviet Union. In 1959, Han Ga entered the Moscow Art Institute and completed her postgraduate studies there. She returned to Vietnam after fourteen years and began her bright and ambiguous journey in her homeland.
Her idol was Antonio Gaudi and she really wanted to create something similar and memorable in her homeland. And she did it. Now the "Crazy House" is stormed by crowds of tourists every day.
And we had a chance to visit here in March of this year. Narrow stairs with low handrails reaching into the sky, rooms painted in bright colors with intricate plots, not a single straight line - all this really blows the roof off. I wouldn't live in such a hotel (it's still a pleasure when strangers constantly look into the room), but it's definitely worth visiting at least once.
