The hotel is a relaxing, peaceful place, you can stay with children, but there are big waves in the ocean. The pool is comfortable. The food is normal, do not wake up hungry, it is better to take everything included as the food on the street is expensive. Do not be afraid to buy excursions on the beach near the hotel, cheaper and will not deceive. The rooms were average, we only came to sleep, the dampness is present because there is an ocean on one side and a river on the other. Take an air freshener with you, it will smell nicer. Take mosquito repellents with you in the evening. They will come in handy. cleaning every day, for a small tip of 100-200 (for rubles it's 30-60), the staff will try very hard and your vacation will be great. We are staying at this hotel at the moment. Of the advantages, the territory , you can walk, the beach is beautiful, almost deserted , but there is a lot of garbage.
The hotel has been in need of renovation for a long time. The room stock is no different from the word at all, I'm not talking about moisture, because this is normal here.
Everything is very dirty in the room (206) For 100 rupees they will make swans, put flowers on the bed, but they will not clean it. I attached a photo of the towels that were changed for us in the morning. One for the face, the other for the body.
Among the entertainment there is table tennis , a volleyball court, and music in the evening. A place for older people who like a very very very very relaxing holiday, young people will be very bored here .
The food is without frills, the menu is monotonous, but you will not stay hungry.
There is no desire to return to this hotel.

We had a rest in early April 2025. First, I wanted to write a devastating review. But then I decided to describe it as it is. I'll start with a pleasant one. The territory of the hotel is very green. An abundance of birds and palm squirrels (similar to chipmunks). The beach is sandy, there is not a pebble underfoot. You can walk along it to the picturesque boulders (interesting views for photos). The food is decent, varied enough, you won't get hungry (we took the "all inclusive")...Nuances: the location of the hotel is peculiar - on an elongated peninsula, separated from the "mainland" by a wide river. You can get to the "civilization" by a free ferry from the hotel. All the iconic places of the country (read sightseeing spots) are very far from the hotel! Excursions can be taken from a guide on the beach (will not deceive) . From the entertainment room, the only music in the bar is in the evenings. Young people will be bored here! Bathing: be careful - constant noticeable surf and current. Well, finally, what you may encounter. Sri Lanka is primarily about nature, views, and history. If this is enough for you, then you will not lose. According to the hotel: management at all levels is "relaxed". If you don't tip (everyone), then you won't be "bothered", this is especially noticeable on the beach when handing out towels...The hotel itself is very "tired"... The chairs on the balconies of the rooms and in the bar are broken (torn). In the best case, a pillow will be placed on top (if you ask). The sunbeds on the beach are completely dead! On top are foam mattresses covered with torn, worn leatherette, which turn into a wet sponge after the rain (and they are not uncommon). Should I put them away for the night? Come on, who's going to do this? There is no TV in the bungalow "as a class". Maybe it's not needed, I'm just saying that it is. In our room, I had to "repair" the swinging toilet by slipping a folded piece of paper. Here's another thing. Maybe it was the season, maybe the blood was very tasty, but many of the hotels were bitten by some kind of midges just "splattered"!!! My back, legs, arms, and everything itches. The re-agents are not working, the neighbors went to the doctor... That's the "cherry on the cake." A picnic blanket (from DECATHLON) was stolen from us. We take him on trips all the time. So this time I folded it and put it on a chair on the balcony of the room....Oops! Negotiations with the administration have not yielded results. Only 3 days after the intervention of the hotel guide, the loss was found. It turns out that "she was dragged away by dogs" and the vigilant staff found her in the woods (funny ones))). That's it.

So we returned home, which I am very happy about!))) I chose this hotel based on the photos and the unusual location. Then I started reading the reviews and was very disappointed.... I was fully prepared, bought cleaning supplies, cleaning gloves, in short , I drove like Mr. Proper. At first glance, it wasn't that scary, but instead of household junk, you had to take your own bed linen, towels, and your own blankets on the sun beds, for those who are going to lie on them at all). There's a real problem with towels and linens. The shower room is also bad, they didn't even stand on the floor with their bare feet, only in slippers. On the tenth day of rest, I was sick of this room, but there are also advantages there - the territory, the ocean, the staff, and they say the food. We only took breakfast. Going to and from the hotel by boat is also stressful, honestly, I wouldn't recommend this hotel, but we were mostly on excursions and we came across cool neighbors, so the rest was still great! By the way, there were a lot of Europeans there, maybe they are better settled than Russians, I do not know, the locals also speak well of the hotel, but it's just dirty! It's old! The rooms are in poor condition. The air conditioner is noisy even when it is turned off. The refrigerator is also making noise all the time. A sign on the wall says that the air conditioner must not be turned off, as it will immediately become humid in the room. That's the way it is. At the same time, a musty smell appears. The window in the shower is a lattice of pieces of glass directly facing the street, and the balcony doors are wooden, with cracks and do not open well. A bed with an uncomfortable, old mattress. We had two beds with a gap in the middle, which constantly moved apart and we fell into it. They refused to change the mattress. The renovation in the room is not neat, dirty. The towels are all old with stains and holes.
The feeding is very mediocre and monotonous. No shrimp, no fresh seafood, no normal fruits.
The fish is always stewed to a rubbery state. Only pork is made from meat, and that's with a lot of fat.
The bar is very expensive. Beer that costs 600 rupees in the city is sold in a bar for 1800 rupees.
There are always not enough beach towels. If you didn't sing them at 7 a.m., then that's it, wait for someone to bring them back.
The sun beds are dirty and tubby.
The only good thing is probably the proximity to the beach. But during the period when we were on vacation (02/14/25-02/26/25) there were very strong waves and swimming was allowed only in a narrow strip marked with flags. Or go along the beach and look for a suitable place.
There are also a lot of funny chipmunks scurrying around in search of food.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay, but I didn't want to return to the hotel room.

My review, this is my opinion, personally, but if the eyes are clear, then the blind will see. I've had a lot of ladies write to me about why to write, why upset people, a pig will find dirt everywhere (it's women who write!!!), let them go on vacation, they tried to humiliate, it was funny, they seemed to be adequate in the photo, they remembered about their grandmother's award)))), put likes))) friend to a friend))) and all sorts of funny and perky things. My complaints about the hotel!!! We pay for the rest. Both the hotel and the room are part of the vacation. Bentota is only distinguished by a wide beach, and that's it. It's not remarkable at all! The waves are there even if there are fewer of them in other parts of Sri. I repeat, ladies on vacation, I don't understand why you take everything personally. Strange women praise the hotel, lenka squirrels want to come back again. I would like to ask, what do your husbands say when you admire dirt? I couldn't bring myself to tell my husband that it was cool, let's go back here. People probably shouldn't live like this, much less pay for it. And these are the lyrics about terribly dirty windows, doors to the balcony and much more. The photo is natural, so judge for yourself. In this hotel, you can only be a little high, happy with everything and not see the obvious things. We had a rest with a friend from March 2 to March 14.
The territory of the hotel is large, very beautiful, clean.
The staff is friendly and helpful. When we checked in, there was no refrigerator and large towels in the room. At the first request, they brought it. The towels are normal, changed about once every 4 days.
We lived in a bungalow overlooking the river. Number 417. Yes, the rooms were tired, but nothing was flowing, the bathroom was working, the air conditioner was working. The bed linen is really old, stained somewhere. But it is clean, but the smell of dampness and humidity was present from the pillows, mattress. There's probably no other way. You just don't need to open the balcony and turn off the air conditioner. We read the reviews in advance and took our underwear with us, which would be nice to leave there. But I agree with the opinion that you need to understand where you are going. This is Asia and there will be no luxury rooms here. We only came to the room to wash and sleep😁
✅The food is decent and varied. From fruits-pineapple, watermelon, papaya. We went out into the city, bought mangosteen, mango, and soda. I highly recommend these fruits!
Seafood-fish every day, sometimes squid. Ice cream for lunch and dinner always. Last year we were at the oak ray haridra beach 4* hotel, where they gave shrimps and squid in different sauces and dishes every day. There were mangoes too. Of course, I saw a small disadvantage in this. By the way, I advise you to consider the above hotel for those who value comfort. There are good cosmetic repairs and bed linen. But it is more remote from the city.
The beach and the ocean are magical. You will immediately forget about your number.
The water is warm, clean, and there are no jellyfish. But waves are always, consider this. This is not suitable for everyone. We were getting high.

We took excursions to Galle and Sigiriya. It is better to go to Galle Fort on your own. About 30 minutes from the hotel. IT'S A DISGUSTING HOTEL!!!!! I do not even know where to start, we were moved into a room where the floors were dirty, the smell of urine was unbearable in the toilet, there was someone's hair on the floor in the shower. The staff is lazy and just pretend that they don't understand you at all (only when everything is clear to them at once) What a cherry on the FLEA's cake! They don't wash the towels they give out at the pool, I've seen clean ones brought in once, and it was clear from the smell of the towels that they were being dried (in some kind of shed) and distributed again! The bedclothes were stained, too, and had seen a lot of life! Nice hotel. We rested according to the breakfast-dinner system. Very cozy hotel, spacious rooms. An atmospheric place, all made of wood. The ferry crossing adds a certain romance. We visited in March 2023.
1. A great beach, with a well-organized recreation area - palm trees, umbrellas, sun beds, mattresses, towels: everything is free. You can order juices, cocktails, beer, alcohol from the bar (next to the beach) (all for a fee). Magnificent ocean water temperature is 28-29 degrees. Very smooth approach, clear water and the beach itself. Sand. There is always a wave for which it is better not to swim, because you can never go back if you are not a professional surfer.
2. A large, very green area. The bungalows are 1 and 2-storey. Quietly.
3. The kitchen is a good choice of dishes. We had breakfast and dinner. At lunch, if there is fruit. It was enough. Seafood can be ordered there at the restaurant, but for a fee. We preferred to eat seafood (any kind, fresh) at the Maharaja restaurant. Primo on the ocean, 15 min. walking distance from the hotel (as you leave the hotel to the left). Or on a tuk-tuk. Round trip is about 150-200 rupees (40-50 ₽). The cost of lunch for 2 of GOOD SEAFOOD, with alcohol is 11000-25000 rupees (from 2000 to 5000 rubles) and it has a great view of the ocean.
4. Alcohol is all paid. The hotel is expensive. It is better to take it in shops, in the city. Excellent rum (at the level of Goan), good beer (of course not Czech).
5. Service for 3.5. I had to repeat several times what you need. The most effective way is to contact the reception and have your request RECORDED. Then everything will be done quickly.
6. The rooms require minor cosmetic repairs. But if there is a problem (the air conditioner is noisy, the sewer is leaking, the outlet is not working: more precisely, you need to learn how to use it - at the reception. Either they will eliminate it quickly enough, or the number will be changed.
7. Staff by 5 points. But all Sri Lankans have a mentality: leisurely people. They are very similar in this to the Chinese from Hai Nan Island.

We visited this “wonderful” hotel at the end of February 2024
. One of the advantages is an awesome endless deserted sandy beach with cool waves.
The hotel is surrounded by a river, you can romantically reach it by free boat, there is also a second option by tuk tuk along a narrow path parallel to the beach.
The staff tries their best, but there are nuances))
Well, now let's go to the disadvantages.
The hotel is old, very old, and God knows that nothing has changed in it, no furniture, no plumbing, no windows, no doors. But the textiles are all the same. Some people write about authenticity. Maybe. But when you see saliva stains and something else on all the pillowcases, sheets, etc., and the staff twists elephants out of towels for tips, but elephants are gray or dirty beige, you will not find white linen and towels here. There are doubts about the availability of a laundry room at the hotel. For example, they wanted to give us beach towels from a pile of used ones. Well, what can I say?
About the food - chicken and potatoes, we will not eat for another month upon our return. There is food there, but the choice is meager, rather, you can find a way to satisfy your hunger, but to get high from the taste and variety is definitely not here.
About diversity: chipmunks run around the territory Everywhere, there are peacocks, mongooses, monitor lizards and lizards, dogs and seals.
The air conditioner in the room is an incredible hum, like at work, you can only fall asleep to it if you are in a trash.
You can turn off the air conditioner, but then the plaster starts falling from the ceiling from the dampness. It's scary to think when they cleaned the conduits. Mold is everywhere, just everywhere.
Floors are washed in a special way - liquid is sprayed and in some places it is smeared on the floor. Apart from the smell of caustic, there is no sense.
We washed the shelves in the cupboards, because it was impossible to put things there. In general, feelings of disgust were constantly accompanied here in the room.
There is no Internet in the rooms, only at the reception and the bar. Is it possible to put up with an alternative book? Shit - you won't be able to read in the room in the evening, it's very dark there, a few dim light bulbs.
A separate respect to biblioglobus, who do not care about the requests of tourists. We couldn't be moved to another hotel, but simply no one is interested in this.

The room and the restaurant are dim. Lighting is 2.5 points on a 5-point scale. The food is not very diverse . 6as had breakfasts and dinners. There are no television channels in Russian. And in general, the inscriptions in Russian are not duplicated anywhere. If Russian citizens are invited to rest, they could have tried. There is no animation from the word AT ALL ! Tennis tables and darts from all the entertainment. There is a lifeguard booth on the beach. There is also a lifeguard, but absolutely with bare hands and on his own two feet. Without any means of escape. No lifebuoy, no boat... We witnessed how one girl swam too far, and a lifeguard ran along the shore, waving his arms and shouting something at her. But because of the noise of the ocean, no one heard him... Because there is a lifebuoy hanging by the pool, where the maximum depth is 170 cm. But the place is good, colorful and the people are good. The administration needs to think about animation, the availability of Russian TV channels and safety on the beach.

For the fact that the food in the hotel was very decent, especially when there were few guests, the buffet for lunch was replaced by a portion serving, and here the real attraction began! There are only big waves on the beach, there is no calm, we knew that and we like it. There are no sun beds on the beach, only in the hotel near the beach exit. The beach itself is always empty. On the right is a shelter for dogs, which are rarely seen, and a mountain on which there is a mini temple.
Chipmunks live on the territory and can be seen at breakfast. Flying foxes in the evening on a tree in front of the reception, lizards of all kinds on the territory. Once there was a small snake sitting on the wall near the door.
We did insect repellent treatment near the rooms.
I lower the star, we went and paid for everything inclusive, as a result, there was a portioned lunch for 3 days, not bad, but the portions were small and it was impossible to choose accordingly.
The hotel can only be reached by boat or on foot along the beach.
Just going to the store will not work, and at night, respectively, the return is also questionable. They call the boat, you wait. But the driver can wash and so on. The waiting time at night outside the schedule is not clear.
I did not like that the area around the pool was not treated for insects. You were bitten by masks, the bites healed for 3 weeks. It itches like hell. There weren't many of us, but there were tourists who didn't have a living place without bites.
Take excursions from travel agents! The locals speak a little, of course, but they are silent on excursions. It is better to pay 20 dollars more expensive, but to learn a lot. Bargain with everyone and even with the operator) discounts are given everywhere, including in stores.
Of the excursions, we liked the safari, on the way we stopped by the turtles. There aren't many animals, but it's fun, elephants are the best!

There are a lot of chipmunks (very cute) on the territory of the hotel, different birds, saw a chameleon, a small monitor lizard and once a monkey came along the tops of palm trees)) There is a big tree near the reception, fruit bats fly there after lunch, they are amazing!!
We had breakfast dinners, the food was delicious! There's always something new for dinners... Shrimp, fish, squid. Delicious soups, pasta.
The room is simple (deluxe room), the linen was fresh, but with non-erasing stains. Towels were changed. They cleaned normally, decorated the bed with flowers.
We read reviews, we were afraid of bedbugs, no one bit us for 10 days of rest))
Everyone is very friendly, they solve all issues. The adapter to the outlet was given, blankets were brought at the request..
Excursions were taken from the Party on the beach, cheaper! And the money was changed in his city, they did not find a more profitable exchange.

You also have to hunt for beach towels, there are not enough of them for everyone. It feels like there just aren't enough funds, or the desire to purchase additional textiles. Insects... the month of February, and the marks on the body are still there. I hope it wasn't bedbugs....
Another unpleasant thing is that a silver chain was missing from the room. It was lying on the table, and then suddenly it stopped. I didn't want a scandal, they didn't yell, so the staff pretended that there was no problem either.

We stayed at this hotel at the end of July 2023, 11 nights.
The hotel is old and in great need of renovation. The territory is large and green. Chipmunks are running around in the restaurant and begging and stealing food. Two small monitor lizards were also seen on the territory. Standard-sized rooms. First, we were moved into a room with a balcony facing the courtyard, asked for a room with an ocean view, and moved without any problems. But the rooms with ocean views have a special feature, it's sooo humid there. If the air conditioner is set above 23 ° C or turned off, there will be a floor with puddles. The mattresses are not particularly comfortable. The bed linen and towels are very old, washed almost to holes. We lost the key to the room, the fine is 7000 rupees...
for food. We took breakfast and dinner. They didn't stay hungry. Everything is sharp. There was fish every day, not particularly spicy, and some seafood was also available every day. Meat, curry, rice, vegetables, pasta are different every day, etc. it has always been. But when the "locals" arrived for the weekend, all the food became so spicy that the taste of the food was generally incomprehensible, there was a feeling all the time that you were eating fire... The fruits were pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, bananas.
We had lunch at Pier88 restaurant, took a taxi back and forth for 100 rupees. The price for the dish is 2200 - 2400 rupees.
Excursions were taken from taxi drivers at the hotel, on the other side of the river from the reception. A boat trip along the river for 2 went out for $ 9, an excursion to Ella for $ 60 per person (at the same time they fed at local eateries), an excursion to the turtles for $ 14 for two. On the beach, beach fights also offer excursions, but they are group (10-15 people) and start very early at 2:35 a.m. for Ella and food at your own expense. The tour operator's excursions are more expensive and also group and early.
They took dollars with them a little bit, and on the spot they changed rubles for rupees through telegram channels. Very convenient.
The weather at this time of the "off season" according to my preferences was excellent. It rained 1 time at night, the weather was very clear for 4 days - it was hot (32 ° C), the rest of the days it was cloudy, but warm and comfortable, we tanned very well.
Most of the establishments are closed on a full moon...
the beach is good, the coastline is wide. There were always free sun beds. There have always been waves. Swimming is unlikely to work, but jumping on the waves is a lot of fun!
In general, we are happy with the rest, if the shabby rooms do not scare, then the hotel is normal.

I had to put things in order in this matter. The food in the restaurant is varied, but it very much depends on the mood of the chefs - it can be very peppered. Entertainment options include a tennis table and a bar. But all these are trifles compared to the ocean, sandy beach and nature! In short, if you spit on the service, then everything is fine!

They put me in another room and said they wouldn't move into the bungalow… The room has a dirty floor, everything is in terrible condition, there is no wi-fi, there is no refrigerator, hair dryer, TV and safe. The hotel is packed to the brim with Russian tourists, to whom, it seems, this attitude… The FUN&SUN tour operator that provided the service is trying to take action to resolve the situation… A terrible place. It's almost impossible to swim in the ocean, it's a very big wave. I do not advise lying on the sand by the ocean, many complained of bites. From entertainment in the evening there is a disco. Table tennis. If you want a massage, then a very colorful one walks along the beach and offers services,,grandfather yogi,, he is not expensive and very high quality, take a beach towel with you and do not be very surprised when he really dragged you into the bushes! He works almost every day. Everything that tour guides offer from tour operators is also available from locals, only much cheaper. Everyone has no knowledge of Russian.
