We lived in November 2024. The hotel is located in the central part of the city, it is a family boutique with six rooms. Everything is decorated in a beautiful style. Everything is clean and tidy, much attention is paid to pleasant little things. Good Wi-Fi. The room has a safe, refrigerator, bar, TV, kettle and daily replenishment of tea accessories and drinking water. There are bathrobes, cotton pads and ear sticks in the bathroom. However, toothbrushes and toothpaste are missing. The bed linen smells nice, and there are 2 comfortable pillows on each bed. We lived in 101 rooms with windows facing the courtyard – absolute silence at night. The breakfasts are not bad for such a boutique. There is a choice of jams, bread, cheese, sausages. Breakfast starts at 8.30 - very late!!! One of the disadvantages is that hostess Magdalena introduced a rule at the doorstep to change street shoes for disposable slippers. We were at the end of November, and it was not at all comfortable walking around the hotel in thin slippers on icy floors, especially sitting in the room with a laptop. And when leaving the hotel, I had to wear ice shoes, which were stored near the front door. Seeing my drooping appearance and the warm boots on my feet (I was wearing them because I was sick with a bad cough), Magdalena called me "for a serious conversation." I explained to her that the slippers were so thin and the floors were so icy that I had already caught a cold and started coughing. To which she first said, "It's winter outside," (you might think we were walking down the street in slippers), and then offered to move to another hotel. And she walks around the hotel in super warm slippers, warm socks, warm pants and two warm sweatshirts. After negotiations, we came to an agreement – we stay at her boutique hotel, and she buys us warm slippers. Everyone fulfilled their part of the contract. I thanked her for the warm slippers, but the residue remained. The second disadvantage is that the rooms are cold, and when you turn on the heater and air conditioner, the air becomes very heavy and your head starts to hurt. And the third disadvantage is the narrow, steep staircase to the third floor and the lack of an elevator (the description of the hotel on travel sites does not say anything about this, as well as about slippers, and in the reviews many complain about the "fad" with slippers). Magdalena also complained that from the very beginning we didn't have a good relationship. It turns out that we were supposed to check in before 10 p.m. But pushing a plane and then a taxi is not in my rules, and the arrival time completely depended on these types of transport. I understand that Magdalena is a hostess with her own rules, but we are guests, we are tourists, and I think we still need to focus on visitors, and not accept them as uninvited guests. Although she was friendly at the meeting, and as soon as she almost missed her, she immediately turned on the hedgehog (according to the reviews on the booking, it turned out that she drove many people out of the hotel). And all this is for a lot of money for Varna. And in the continuation of the conflict with the slippers: Maggie wrote a letter that, as a sign of appreciation that we stayed at her hotel for the entire stay, she is ready to upgrade the room category to Deluxe king and bring breakfast to the room. But before checking in, on the recommendation of my manager, I had already paid extra for the upgraded Deluxe king category. It turns out that now Maggie wanted to upgrade the room category for FREE to the one that I had already paid for (see the check for 120 lev in the photo gallery). She also allegedly doesn't appreciate someone who threatens her to write a bad review, although there were no threats from my side. The most interesting thing happened on the third day of our stay. After breakfast, Maggie called me back to her "office" for a "serious conversation" and asked if we would move to a room of a higher category, but I told her that I refused the offered breakfast in the room and moved to another room (that is, I did not accept her apology). Maggie's ATTENTION is here !!!.... she asked to leave the hotel before 12 o'clock today. I objected and noticed that the hotel was paid for and I had to stay the remaining three days. Immediately, our "all-powerful" hostess called the police and demanded to hand over the keys to the room and the entrance to the hotel. I had about two hours left before the "eviction", so I refused to give up the keys ahead of schedule (without them I would not have been able to get into the hotel from the street) and, going outside, I found a much better hotel right next to it, with a normal manager and much cheaper. At the same time, the "hostess" turned off the water in our room, in the toilet bowl (even in kindergartens they don't do that). I wanted to leave a "surprise" in an anhydrous pot at parting, but, unfortunately, I couldn't. After returning to the hotel to get my things, I met the police in my room, with whom we had a friendly chat. They questioned us, understood everything, and since we were already moving out, wished us a good journey. In the quiet of a new hotel room, with a full tank of water in the right place, analyzing what had happened, I remembered one moment that could be the key to solving our conflict. During our conversation with Maggie, a Ukrainian cleaner, Alla, was invited to translate from Russian into Bulgarian. As she said, she was "forced" to stay in Bulgaria. So maybe, I emphasize, maybe for some reason she made a wrong translation to annoy us. But that's just my guess. Two months have passed, and Maggie's "surprises" haven't ended. It turns out that I should have received a refund for unlived days from Booking. But when my manager contacted them, they referred to the fact that the owner of the City Boutique Inn hotel did not confirm that we had moved out – Maggie had planted a "pig" on us. I received the money for the unused days on January 28, 2025, without apologies or compensation. The worst attitude towards the guests. For me, who visited more than 30 countries, it was a SHOCK. I do not recommend it in the winter season. And you can't say anything against the hostess, otherwise you'll end up on the street. But in any case, it's up to you.
