Mount Chimera is an unusual peak, on the slopes of which natural gas is constantly igniting. It is this legendary peak described in Homer's Iliad as the place where a terrible monster lived.
, Entrance to the attraction is paid. Tourists come here with sausages and marshmallows to roast it on the fire.
The way to the mountain with fiery hearths is a kilometer along the steps, not quite simple, but feasible.
Next is the marked Lycian trail, and you can walk to the pass of Mount Chimera itself. A trail with a constant sharp climb.
Bottom line: Lycian trail – Cirali to Mount Chimera pass.
1️⃣ The level of training is average.
2️⃣ Climb – 400 m . (all the way up, the first 200 meters of the steps)
3️⃣ The length to the pass is 3 km (one way).
The place is really amazing and I recommend visiting it at sunset, take a flashlight or a phone with you). Going back down the stairs in the dark is quite problematic.
Chimera (also called Chiraly Yanartash) is worth climbing up and looking at the fiery torches bursting out of the ground. Yes, the road is not the easiest. But if you have time and do not rush, it is quite possible to master it. We arrived there around 16 o'clock and stayed until 18. During this time, besides us, there were 3 more girls and NO ONE else!!! But when we were already descending, we met perhaps a hundred people who were in a hurry to climb the Chimera by dusk. Yes, it's probably more beautiful there at dusk, but will you be able to see something from behind other people's backs?
