Chimgan is a popular ski resort in the Tashkent region, ideal for outdoor enthusiasts. There are excellent trails for skiers and snowboarders, as well as picturesque landscapes that make skiing especially enjoyable. The service is top-notch, and the variety of infrastructure (hotels, cafes, equipment rentals) allows you to enjoy your vacation in a comfortable environment. A great place for families and winter sports enthusiasts.
The Chimgan ski resort near Tashkent is a legendary place for winter holidays in Uzbekistan, where drive, nature and comfort merge! Located just 80 km from the capital, it attracts both lovers of extreme sports and those who want to enjoy the mountain scenery.
Why Chimgan?
❄️ Trails at any level: From gentle slopes for beginners to steep descents for the pros. There are snowboarding areas, as well as cross-country ski trails.
Modern ski lifts: Although the infrastructure is modest in some places, the main lifts are stable, and the prices for ski passes are affordable (from 150,000 soums / ~$12 per day).
Equipment rental: Skis, snowboards, boots — everything can be rented on site. The quality of the equipment is good, especially for beginners.
Not just skiing!
Stunning nature: The Chimgan Mountains in winter are snow caps, coniferous forests and clean air. In summer, people come here for trekking and picnics.
Hot tea and Uzbek cuisine: After skiing, bask in a cafe with fragrant pilaf, manti and samsa. The prices in the canteens at the complex are more than adequate.
Accommodation: Nearby there are guest houses, sanatoriums and mini-hotels (for example, "Chimgan Oromgohi"). We recommend booking in advance — the season is full!
Useful tips:
- Season: The best time is from December to February, when there is the most snow. Sometimes the snow is artificially supplemented.
- How to get there: From Tashkent by car (1.5 hours) or minibus from Kuylyuk station.
- Safety: There are instructors for beginners, but the trails are not always perfectly marked — be careful.
Cons:
The infrastructure is not up to the world's resorts: there are few cafes, the service is simple, and queues on weekends can be annoying. But on the other hand, there is an authentic atmosphere and a spirit of Soviet nostalgia!
If you are looking for an inexpensive winter vacation without pathos, but with stunning views and adrenaline — Chimgan is your choice! Ideal for families, companies and even solo trips. After skiing, don't forget to look at the top of Bolshoy Chimgan — the view of the valley will make your heart beat faster! ❤️

Chimgan is a popular ski resort located 80 kilometers from Tashkent, in the foothills of the Chatkal range. The resort is famous for its magnificent mountain scenery, high-quality snow and well-developed infrastructure.
A great place to relax with the whole family. Great views. There is a reservoir nearby where you can and should swim. There are many restaurants serving local cuisine. Interesting hiking and horseback riding.
Of all the trips to Uzbekistan, the strongest impressions are from this cable car. We went with three children aged 16, 13 and 8. Before that, we had been on cable cars in Krasnaya Polyana and Khibiny. Therefore, the children wanted extreme sports. And we got it in full!!! This is an old cable car with open cabins, closed with an iron stick, which does not even close, but simply descends and dangles, not fixed by anything. The seats are quite narrow, you try to move out of them, which makes you hold on very tightly and pray all the way. The children managed to wave at passing booths, while I sat clinging to the counter and afraid to move. When descending to the station, a photographer was on duty, who took quite good photos, which we bought for very little money. Also, at our request, we were given 5 chapans (a little less than 500 rubles) for 50 thousand soums, which were very relevant, since the day was quite snowy and cold.
The place is picturesque, there are shops where you can buy everything you need, including fresh meat. The only thing you can't walk is there is no sidewalk, the locals drive so that it's better not to go out on the road at night.
It was when the snow came down and the temperature was 6-10 degrees. We got there in the morning when there weren't many people. Free, quiet, good, beautiful. We took a ride on the funicular. It's scary, but I really liked it!
We arrived, the ski slope is closed because there is little snow. We went to the cable car, safety is 0, but the views are beautiful. We also decided to ride an ATV and a horse - 200k som (1500 rubles). ATVs are terrible and the ride, the car will go quietly, the ATV does not go. After a ride on a horse, which initially cost 200k som, it turned out that an instructor on a horse also costs 200k som and they say they talked about it before the trip (but did not talk), but an instructor without his horse is free, is it okay? That is, you are not told additionally that you will also pay for the instructor's horse when he walks with you for free
Chimgan is great as always.
Even an unprepared person and children can climb to the top of Maly Chimgan in 1.5-2 hours through the Pesochny Pass, the starting point behind the Fanat sports hotel. From the road, you need to go through the gate / gate of the hotel and climb to the end of the construction site, and then across the stream to the left to the pass.
It is best to get up from 7:00 or 15:00. So it's not too hot.
Be sure to apply a sunscreen with the maximum index.
There were a lot of people and it was hot, but the air was clean, we had a great rest, there are various entertainments, we didn't get on the cable car because there were a lot of queues
I was in Chimgan and was shocked by the snowy and high mountains in hot Uzbekistan. Smooth roads, serpentines. A working escalator for climbing to the peak of the mountain, to the observation deck. It was interesting.
The Chimgan Ski resort did not greet us very friendly. The observation deck was all in fog, perhaps this time of year (April 29, 2024). Since the lower funicular was not working, the guide took us to the upper funicular, we bought tickets (110,000 soums per person) and went to the top. On the observation deck, the fog was blown up by the wind in places, I think when there is no fog, the views are magnificent. At the top, you can have a snack and drink soft or strong drinks. We ordered alcoholic mulled wine (about 150,000 soums), non-alcoholic in a nearby bistro costs several times less. It will be interesting to come here in winter during the ski season. There is a hotel and houses for rent.
Stunning mountains, clean air and wonderful views. We were really with my family in the summer. In case of arrival in winter, we will definitely come skiing.
The place is cool, I advise everyone to go in winter! The entertainment is cool, the mountains are cool, you can take pictures as a keepsake) Conclusion: remember this for the rest of your life
Chimgan
Ruin, and dirt
There's nothing to do there. The rope is not worth a good word. There is no ski trip in fact. There are crowds of people walking in fur coats, and there are many "businessmen" who rent out cheesecakes, ATVs, skis, boots, and horses. The feeling of a spontaneous market at the train station.
Once it was beautiful, it was clean, nature, the air. The eye rested from the building. And now, as everywhere else in Uzbekistan, there is construction, tree felling, and garbage.....
It was in the summer. Beautiful landscapes. There are few shops and cafes. Few trash cans. You have to carry everything with you. Taxi drivers charge 2 times more than indicated by Yandex
Of course, it's interesting for children, but it's risky and dangerous to ride on 🎿 and others, and the rope is very cold. There are a lot of people in this cold, too. They all fall down several times , bruises everywhere ☺
Cool, fantastic, enchanting! It's so beautiful that there are no words!!! But there are a lot of photos! The lift is cool! And especially mountains, mountains and mountains again!
At the moment, more construction work is not underway than I am, the road is all muddy. There was enough snow to go skating. In general, we have a tradition to travel to these places every year.
The nature is beautiful, there are many private cottages and territories. There are cable lifts. The one from Tashkent with a booth, and the second one without a booth. There are many places for photos.
There should have been two lifts on the Chimgan on different ones, a chairlift and in booths, but...one was under repair. Our guide quickly got his bearings and rebuilt, and in return we had a wonderful boat tour and time for a paroplane flight.Which turned out to be even better and more interesting. In a word, a great natural object, with various beautiful views and entertainment!
A very great place. Fresh air. But there are problems with parking on a Sunday afternoon. The prices are reasonable. Overall, it's a good place. You can have a good rest with your family and friends
The view is gorgeous, the fresh air, having gone there seemed to have rejuvenated by 20 years, the most beautiful view, a very good road, very friendly people live there. I recommend
A beautiful place with interesting routes, slides of varying difficulty and an incredible turquoise-colored reservoir. Of course, the service in the area is still not up to date (well, or not at all). If you add basic centralized information and tourist support, let clear transport, more civil cafes, affordable housing, mark up routes, a couple of bars and entertainment for young people, then instead of a country village, really Uzbek Switzerland will flourish here.
We were in late spring, the weather was fine, different from Tashkent, no more than 25 degrees in the afternoon.
Beautiful mountains and landscape. Infrastructure 0, conditions 0, completely at the mercy of local touts. For fans of extreme recreation without conditions and claims.
This is a half-dead, once pleasant slope, the center of attraction in the old days. Because there is an old chairlift there. Skiing there is a small slope according to the weather, I indicated the descent line in the photo. Only the next morning after the snowfall, you can ride until lunch, then everything is rolled out. There's nothing to do there in the summer either. This is if we talk about a specific place. And in general, there are a lot of cool holiday homes along this highway. And Chimgan himself has already died.
There is a paid parking near the entrance. In fact: an unknown man takes money from you illegally and offers a ride on a quadric or a horse. The rip-off is fierce, don't take it, there's nothing to look at. You won't see the waterfall, it will be sooo far away and sooo small. Quadrics are bad, some guy rides with you on a quadric wheel, if you want to do it yourself, they will tell you to pay for an additional quadric of an escort or for an additional horse. When in another version, the escort just walks with you with his feet. In short, the shame is fierce, do not take it.
The cable car itself is very old. Very! But it costs 300 rubles or 40 rubles.
Very beautiful places we rested at the cottage for three days the cottage is very good, grocery stores are nearby, very good honey of different varieties is sold, a beautiful mosque rode a boat, everything is super I advise
Excellent mountainous area, clean air, beautiful nature. It's better to see with your own eyes than to read a comment.

It feels like the parking lot is equipped with underfloor heating and the price includes car washing, which is very expensive. The arrogant and rude attitude of parking attendants, they don't issue checks, they wear masks and dark glasses, and they have tattoos on their hands. It's not possible to identify who is communicating with you. No one is watching for cleanliness and order. There are prohibition signs everywhere, specially designed so that visitors are forced to enter an expensive parking lot!
