A very pleasant place, we went after the Chagall museum, it was closed, but they saw us and opened it to us, they were very friendly, admired the building, it is new, repairs are completed, on the second women's floor, there is information about how the construction was going on, a piece of the old wall was left unpainted on the first floor, it does not catch the eye, You need to know where to look.
Thanks to the caretaker of the synagogue
I am very pleased that I managed to get into this historical stratum of the Vitebsk Jewish Community. Thanks to the "caretaker", he told me a lot of interesting things.
A historical place, a majestic building, a masterpiece of spiritual and architectural heritage. It was restored by Yitzhak Kogan and a community of like-minded people. May God increase their merits.
It is a pity that many architectural monuments did not survive during the Second World War and for other reasons. I hope there will be a restoration over time
Restoration work has finally begun! I thought I wouldn't live to see this moment, I've been walking past these sad ruins and unkempt territory all my life. I hope we will soon see what the synagogue looked like in reality, and not just in old pictures.
It is located 6 minutes from the railway and bus station. The synagogue is in a sad state - it has been standing without restoration for twelve years, collapsing more and more every year.
I would really like the administration of our city to pay attention to this architectural monument. It is necessary to restore and make the museum until it has completely collapsed. You can't watch without tears!
It is a pity that the synagogue will not be rebuilt in any way, it would be a prominent place, as well as a haven for the homeless and drunks, an improvised garbage dump and a desecrated shrine.
