We were in Almaty for a week, recently returned, almost always ate in the basilica, because it was delicious, fresh products, affordable. Lamb kebab is not very good for me, it's too much fat for me and the meat is hard to chew, but men will like it, but the cradle is quite tasty. Borscht is super, meat from the heart, tortillas are delicious, rolls are excellent, Kazakh tea is awesome, milk is not spared, our real tea; salad under a fur coat is normal, Olivier is also not bad, dumplings with potatoes are delicious, mantas were too hard for me and my daughters to chew, desserts are fresh (we tried honey cake, Snickers and meringue roll, it's awesome). Anyway, thanks a lot. Last year we were also satisfied. It is not surprising that the overall score is five, it is deserved. (But this, of course, is not a restaurant, it is a cafe-dining room).

The main advantage of these establishments is always fresh and delicious food, in 95% of cases they are prepared specifically to order. The exceptions are various soups, pilaf, manti, etc. The
main disadvantage (for which -1 *) this is a service. During rush hours, when there are a lot of visitors, the waiters do not have time to clear the tables and wait for the order to be accepted for 20-30 minutes. There are QR codes on the tables for self-ordering, but often the application does not work and such an order takes longer to prepare.
Otherwise, everything is fine, the interior was recently updated, the atmosphere is nice and cozy, but it is quite noisy.

Minuses:
1) due to the large number of people, it becomes too noisy
2) due to the workload, the staff for the most part does not care about visitors
3) not a very atmospheric place, it feels like an ordinary dining room (although it is formally written that this is a restaurant)
Overall, the impression is rather good. At low prices, you can try a very large number of different dishes, the quality of each of which is at an acceptable level. Due to the fact that there are a lot of people in the hall, the staff does not have time to serve everyone properly (for example, our waiter did not specify our order and as a result, they did not bring us everything we wanted), there are not enough appliances on many tables.
In general, low prices + a wide range + the atmosphere of the dining room = cafe Basil.

I love Basil. For affordable prices, interesting interior, QR codes on the tables "don't wait for the waiter, cleanliness. Excellent choice of food, excellent variety of assortment. I noticed that the staff is mostly young guys, so far they lack a little polish in service, but this does not affect my rating and asterisks. Sometimes I don't understand people (especially the female sex) who yell at the waiter for the whole room that there is no order for a long time, that everything is cold or something else. The poor youngsters themselves listen to this non-stop and just keep silent. Girls, people, be kinder, because not everyone immediately becomes a specialist in their field, let them study and earn, the main thing is not to loaf around and do not do forbidden things. I was here 2 times and made orders via qr on the tables and within 10 minutes they were brought, although the order indicated 30-40 minutes for cooking, everything was politely served and the food was hot, and the drinks were cool, and everything was clean. We ordered two dishes and a pot of tea, and one dish was brought... Does tea also need to be cooked for 15-20 minutes? You won't get tea... In general, dear management...
