It is a magnificent building that is very well preserved. It has undergone restoration. We couldn't see inside because the doors were locked. There are relief shapes on the outer walls. It is currently being used as a mosque. Its history is as follows:
It is the church of the Barhal Monastery, which is thought to have been built by the Georgian King David Magistros Dec. 961-973. Manuscript sources state that the church was dedicated to St. John the Baptist. A church and two chapels from the monastery have survived to the present day. Building 17. it has been used as a mosque since the middle of the century.
