I visited the Azerbaijan State Russian Drama Theater named after Samad Vurgun, and I was very impressed. This is a place with a rich history, a wonderful atmosphere and a high level of acting.
Pros:
✔️ Interesting and diverse repertoire – from classics to modern productions.
Excellent acting – each role is performed with depth and professionalism.
A cozy room with good acoustics and comfortable seats.
✔️ Affordable ticket prices.
✔️ Convenient location in the center of Baku.
Minuses:
Sometimes it can be difficult to get tickets to popular performances.
I would like to see more premieres and new productions.
Conclusion: If you value theater and high–quality performances, this theater is a great place for cultural recreation. I definitely recommend you to visit!
The very fact of the existence of the Russian drama theater in Azerbaijan is already an event.
I watched the premiere performance of the Captain's Daughter.
Being an inveterate theater girl, I was impressed by the live piano music before the performance, performed by a virtuoso young elegant pianist,
as well as the performance staged with deep respect for Pushkin's work and Russian culture.
The performance features Russian songs that I've never heard before, and HOW wonderful they sound!!!
Bravo, I'll be in Baku, and I'll definitely come back.
We came to Baku for a few days and of course, how not to visit the Theater, the artists watched the "Masquerade" well done, especially I liked the play of the main character - Murad Mammadov, Honored Artist of Azerbaijan
We visited the theater while we stayed in Baku for a week, watched The Captain's Daughter.
The impressions were good. The theater and the audience are pleasant, the pianist played Rachmaninoff in the foyer, it's cozy, you feel "at home" :)
I highly and strongly recommend it. It was the first time, but not the last time.
I was struck by the performance of the troupe, they did not play, they lived.
I am in awe of the brilliant game
Thank you for your hard work
During an excursion trip to Baku, I watched the play "The Queen's Last Passion" about the English virgin queen Elizabeth. In the heroine, the heart of a woman eager to love and be loved and the mind of a cold state ruler surrounded by envious, flatterers, schemers fought. The actors play at the capital level, good scenery, colorful costumes. In the foyer, a pianist at the piano performed piano pieces, the hall is cozy.
I was at a performance at this theater in 2015 at the Samad Vergun Russian Theater. Poet of socialist Azerbaijan. I really liked the audience - the local intelligentsia. The performance in Russian is excellent, I recommend it to everyone, have fun.
