I really liked the hotel, the large territory, its own beach, supermarket and even the church
Great breakfasts and dinners. I liked the evening program, pleasant live music. Special entertainment for families with children.
We rest at the hotel for the 5th time. This time, the parents were brought. We have 3 rooms of the same category next to each other. And each of them has problems.
We loved this hotel very much for its warmth and service. But... The pandemic has not passed without a trace for the hotel. And we have something to compare it with. We were in Turkey and Cyprus after the lockdown. Also in 5* hotels. We have not seen such despondency and a decrease in service anywhere. So, what catches your eye right away:
1. According to information from the sites, the last update here was in 2016. Obviously, nothing has changed here since then. We were here in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and now in 2021. The hotel was already worn out (built in 1976), but now everything is just falling apart. We always take the category of bungalows with garden views, ask us to check into certain rooms. And in our rooms, the plumbing is just all killed, both externally and functionally, the furniture in the room just screams about updating.
2. Bathroom accessories. Previously, these were stylish shampoo bottles, etc. now they are dispensers with liquid soap and shower gel of an unknown brand. The same as liquid soap /shower gel/shampoo. With the smell of cheap men's cologne. The quality in the end is also disgusting. I had to go to the nearest store to get a normal shampoo. There are completely no bathroom accessories - hats / cotton pads / napkins, etc. All this disappeared from the bathroom without a trace. A lone mini bottle of antiseptic proudly adorns the empty bathroom countertop. But there were poor silicone mats of unknown purpose. No one seems to mind that this is basically unhygienic and unacceptable for a hotel. Especially during a pandemic. They are not washed or processed. Hello mushroom, if you start using it for all the guests. The feeling of a 3* hotel, alas, is no more.
3. Textiles. Bathrobes have disappeared from the rooms. There are none. At the reception, we were confirmed that, alas, it is no longer allowed. The towels are washed to holes. Just like the bed linen. It is, of course, carefully washed and ironed, but the holes are here and there with enviable constancy. Beach towels have turned into a thin sieve over the years of service, it's scary to lie down on it, it looks like it will crack from dilapidation.
4. Themed dinners. The tavern hosts themed dinners for guests: Cretan evening, Greek, Bella Italia, Asian evening, BBQ, Fish night. We managed to visit all of them. Disappointment. The quality has decreased relative to previous years. Sushi disappeared in Asian cuisine, everything else was without signs, it was unknown what, it was unknown with what. Terrible queues for shrimp in batter. There was a great desire to escape to the main restaurant from this horror. Fish used to be paid, now it has been made free for everyone, naturally this has affected both the assortment and the quality.
5. For children. I really liked the kids' club, but now it's just sad. A corner with food for children was closed. Kids are taken to the main restaurant for lunch, where nothing is specially prepared for them. As a result, except for spaghetti and French fries, nothing is provided for children. Although there was always soup and several types of dishes before. The program is also a problem. For some reason, in cold weather (+20), children are dragged into an ice pool. One of the advantages was a pleasant circus performance, a 5-year-old child really liked it, a pirate party. In the past years, there was cotton candy for children in the children's club and in the main restaurant, a chocolate fountain and Viennese waffles, all this has alas disappeared.
6. Food and staff. Nothing has changed with this one. This applies to the main restaurant and the food in the tavern on the menu. It's also delicious. The assortment is solid 4. The staff is constant, they are very friendly. This seems to be the only thing that continues to please - the hospitality and friendliness of the staff. Of course, there are gloomy comrades, but they were gloomy all the years before :) a separate minus is for the restaurant employee, who first signs everyone up for themed dinners, and then dissuades and scares that it will be paid. It all looks extremely unpleasant.
7. Weak animation. This has been a problem for all years. In the evening, there is essentially no entertainment here. Children's disco at 19.00 (during dinner, it should be noted). There is music in the main building, then there is not. There used to be performances at themed dinners, now there's nothing. A sad DJ puts on music depending on the theme of the dinner. There used to be performances in the amphitheater, but now, as we were told, the hotel did not have time to sign a contract with the last animation team, so there is nothing, go to sleep.
8. Swimming pool. It is now the end of the season and the outdoor pool temperature does not rise above +20, while the indoor pool is closed. They say it's because of the pandemic. At the same time, there is a Spa treatment in the same room and here everything works, there are no restrictions.
9. We decided for ourselves that we are unlikely to return to the hotel in the near future. There are a lot of alternatives for the same money that met the impact of the pandemic more adequately and did not turn their guests' vacation into a pathetic semblance of a 5* hotel. The current status of the 3* hotel.

And we are happy. Yes. Old. Yes, it's falling apart a bit. Obviously not at 5. BUT. But what a view. A bungalow with a swimming pool and immediately a beach. Lie down and no one is buzzing around. At least stand on your head. The location is decidedly captivating. The staff is excellent. I didn't come there to live. Clear. Wash, sleep, eat, and it's great. We don't need anything else.
I am currently vacationing at this hotel. I bought a ticket on the advice of a travel agent. In one word, SHIT!!! I don't recommend it at all. There's not even a smell of four here. The service is shit. Nobody cares. You need to approach yourself, ask yourself, speak 100 times. The situation happened like this, I lost the key to the safe!!! The key!!! Everyone switched to code safes a long time ago, and here's the key. In general, I came to the reception and said: I lost the key, what should I do? (it was evening) they replied: COME tomorrow morning and we will decide. The next day I came, they said they would call the master now, I waited 1.5 hours in the room. There is no one there. I'm already angry, I'm going down, there's already another manager and again on a new one.... in general, it costs 29 euros to replace the key with a mechanism. And I have to pay for this, where in NORMAL 5-STAR HOTELS THERE IS A CODE SAFE. Take my word for it, it's a disgusting hotel. And there is no return from the leadership. Nobody just cares. The toilet is leaking, explained they didn't do anything. The only clear sea, but I think it has nothing to do with the hotel.
I got to Aquilla for the first time in 2013 on a recommendation. I just fell in love with this place. Excellent beach with a blue flag. Amazing sea. The staff's very respectful attitude towards the guests. The kitchen is fabulous, for which special thanks to the chef.
Yes, it would be nice to upgrade the hotel, but this is not the most important thing. The main thing is that it has numbers for ANY wallet. I've been there 3 times and I want more. This is the only place I'm ready to return to at the first opportunity.
And it's also very nice that the hotel values its staff and you are greeted by old friends who recognize you. It's so nice.
Great hotel! Do not listen to the beggars who regretted the 29 Euro fine for the lost key to the safe. Nice staff! Great food! Freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast!!! Meat is cooked every day on the grill, and no one occupies sun beds by the pool! Everything is spacious and comfortable! I noticed famous people in this hotel. But this is their own business.
