Shahi Zinda translates as "The Living King" and this is about the cousin of the Prophet Muhammad - Qusam ibn Abbas. It is believed that he was buried here, although there is no historical evidence. He came to Samarkand to preach Islam, but was killed by the Zoroastrians. According to legend, he continues to live underground, hence the "Living King". For those who are not interested in legends, the place is just very beautiful. The complex of mausoleums includes buildings dating back to the 11th century.
Definitely worth a visit. At least to see the nameless mausoleums, which are 2,000 years old and have managed to preserve them. Not even knowing whose they are. As they say, feel the difference in mentality)
The beauty is unreal. And at the same time, they are tombs. There is a functioning mosque. They sell water inside. Beautiful view from the top of the city
Nicely.
But the guide ruined the whole impression. For 100 thousand in bad Russian, I spoke fluently and said goodbye! Don't trust the local guides, check their language skills!
