Trekking about 20 kilometres from starting point to Lake Big Almaty. Mind blowing visuals. It will take 4 hours. Middle age and above need to be careful. After reaching lake heart was full of joy.

The most important huge plus of the hotel is an amazing location in the mountains! The beauty around is incredible, intoxicatingly fresh air, absolute peace and silence. We were in early October - golden autumn, so to everything else, the most picturesque combinations of dark green needles, yellow, orange, red, burgundy leaves were added - I don't have enough words to describe the beauty of the landscape in the vicinity of the hotel! Quite a well-maintained territory - paths, benches, Parking for cars, clean, several good-quality two-storey cottages. Everything would be fine, but the numbers... The furniture is old, dilapidated, creaky, the upholstery of the furniture is worn - dirty, untidy, there are smudges on the ceiling. There are no elementary things in the room - bedside tables, a sufficient number of electrical outlets, a kettle. The bathroom was renovated, but there was no hot water. Rather, it was given only for 2 hours late in the evening, and the rest of the time - only cold. And it's really cold, just icy, so even washing your hands is unbearably cold, I'm not saying what kind of torture brushing your teeth turned into:((( There is a fireplace in the room, but given the dilapidated state of everything around, we did not dare to light it. At the same time, the prices at the hotel are exorbitant, even by Moscow standards! Apparently, the lack of competition affects - "Alpine Rose" is located much higher than all hotels in this direction and closest to BAO.
Another of the advantages is the friendly and friendly staff, who, as far as possible, helped to deal with domestic disorder.
The on-site restaurant is quite cozy, a fireplace is lit in the evenings. The food is normal (sometimes better), the prices are high for such quality.
But I still shoot only one star, because for the sake of such nature, such landscapes, you can tolerate icy water, old furniture and smudges on the ceiling. All this will be forgotten, and the beautiful mountains, the morning singing of birds to all voices, the murmur of a mountain river, the picturesque road to the Big Almaatinsky Lake will remain in your memory forever:)
If you are going to the Alpine Rose hotel, then buy something to eat and drink with you in advance - there are no shops nearby, and by if possible, take an electric kettle or a boiler with you.

Old-school delicious breakfasts
A wonderful sauna. Oh! Sauna... a special conversation. A cold font, a beautiful wood-burning steam room, a barrel of hot water outside. And tall fir trees!
Alpine Rose is a convenient base for mountain routes. And you can't go there by car. On foot ;)
There are few people, the nature is fantastic, delicious, a sauna, various peaks nearby, the big Almaty lake, the big Almaty peak. The freshest air.

We were here from November 2 to November 3, 2023. The location of the hotel is wonderful for 5, but taking into account that the location has been developed since 2000 for all staff only 2. The hotel is abandoned, uncomfortable, dirty, the sports ground is overgrown, abandoned and does not serve its purpose. Rooms: two semi-suites, priced at 55,000 each, dirty; the baths have not been cleaned since 2000, there is NO hot water, the shower does not work, it is cold, the heater is not enough for such a room. To warm up, you need to buy firewood for 3000 tenge, but you will get heating only in the room, if you go out into the corridor or bathroom, then there is a freezer...There is some furniture in the room, but it does not serve its intended purpose: try to put things in the closet, whose doors are pinned by the bed...But the most disgusting thing was that the MICE were not allowed to sleep at night...No one warns about their presence, but they ARE THERE!!! The staff responds to all complaints as if they had just arrived here from another planet...In the rooms for this price there is no electric kettle and tea utensils, bathrobes... Separately about the restaurant-dining room: it is cold in it, heating costs 3000 tenge for setting fire to wood in the fireplace of the dining room - a kind of trick...Menu: 3 burnt kebabs +3 plates of soup + a bowl of French fries, 2 beers and a pot of tea cost 32,000 tenge. The breakfast included in the room rate was just awful.. Tea is always cold here...If you want to take a steam bath, keep in mind that an hour of stay costs 50,000 tenge, and ordering a bath for at least 3 hours, i.e. 150,000 tenge. In general, in this location, any sneeze is worth your money: from 3000 tenge and above...Separately about the staff: he seems to be all good-natured, but with a smell, in the truest sense of the word... And as a result, I summarize: Our mountains are majestic, our nature is rich, beautiful and diverse, the expanses are endless, BUT THE SERVICE LEAVES MUCH TO BE DESIRED!!! Prices are expensive even by European standards, and the Service is close to ZERO.

The location is perfect, overall the first impression is pleasant. The room was clean enough (except for the rug in the bathroom, it was very dirty ..). In general, everything in the room is old and tired.
The food in the restaurant is very so-so. Passable, but it could have been better for the money) and breakfast is generally terrible ... served margarine instead of butter and cheese product instead of cheese ... but these are all minor disadvantages.
The most interesting thing is the TRANSFER for 10000. When we were taken back, we were dropped off in the middle of the road, where there was no connection, they flatly refused to give us a ride 3km to the visitor center... the end of November, ice, fog, cold on the road, there is no connection... we were just left there
It doesn't fit in my head how you can do this with guests at all
This is despite the fact that 90,000 were left with them in one night (room, transfer, dinner)
In general, I do not advise…

A wonderful inexpensive hotel in a very picturesque place! The breakfasts are delicious, the hotel staff are super friendly and lovely, the area is cozy. It is very convenient to get to the Moon Valley and Almaty Lake.
A small disadvantage is the quality of the standard room we stayed in. Very old curtains and bedspread (with holes), which makes the room feel untidy. If you update the rooms a little, it will be just great!

The hotel is located in a place with magnificent, charming views, which are good both in greenery and in snow, it is impossible to take your eyes off. The territory of the hotel is clean, the staff constantly monitors and takes care of it. There is a cafe, the menu is delicious, the portions are very generous. There are soups, kebabs (very tasty), meat, fish, etc. The staff at the cafe is very polite, friendly.
We lived in a room with a fireplace, lit it once, it had a cozy atmosphere, the firewood crackled pleasantly. But the smell of gorenje, unfortunately, does not come out through the chimney completely, but fills the room.
The bed is very comfortable, there is a spacious wardrobe, a heater in the room, a hairdryer in the bathroom. The room is spacious, there is an entrance hall, a bathroom. Disposable slippers, hygiene products, towels are provided for personal use. The staff is always ready to help and resolve any issues that arise. I would love to return to this place. It was a wonderful weekend)))
Additionally, it is worth answering that there is no kettle and dishes in the room, refrigerator-these things would not hurt.
P.S. A big request to the staff to solve problems with the mouse in the walls, because this was not only in our cottage.

A pleasant and beautiful place, a comfortable room with a fireplace. But there are a couple of negative points: there was no hot water, it was impossible to wash, although it was necessary after walking in the mountains.
The main complaint about the restaurant. With exorbitant prices on the menu (there are no alternatives for catering around), the quality of the dishes does not stand up to any criticism. All meat is soaked in disgustingly salty marinades, tomatoes are sour in an elementary vegetable salad, even tea is brewed in bags according to the restaurant price tag.
I recommend taking food with you to cook on the grill yourself, save your budget and not spoil the mood.

Mice in the rooms! House # 3 ground floor , in two places at the junction of the floor and radiators, passages of mice. In the room, there were dried fruits and cookies on a plate, so at night the rodents began to gnaw and unpack them, in the morning, in different corners, there was already an untrained prey lying around. When they told the staff, they pretended they didn't know anything about it (what a surprise, yeah), and at the same time they didn't say anything, didn't ask for details, didn't apologize. But in the morning they did not forget to remind about 6k tenge for firewood. In general, unsanitary conditions, high cost and indifference reign in this institution. The place takes only its location, and everything else is a complete misunderstanding. They don't know how to cook either, the kebab was served straight in the form of half coals. Bad and terrible. The prices on the site have not been updated for 10 years, probably, there was almost nothing available in the restaurant's kitchen. In general, if you want to spoil your mood and rattle your nerves with conditions and service, then you are here. And it's better to just enjoy nature and not stop at this place.

We went there purely because of the BAO and the gorgeous views, so we didn't make any special bets on the hotel. There is a place to sleep and that's fine. But if we talk about the hotel, yes, it is in great need of repair: plumbing, floors, furniture and everything else.
The staff is polite. I don't know what kind of unfriendly staff they write about.
The on-site restaurant is very nice. The only thing that is very often not available (fondue, for example, has been missing for several months).
But for us, the fireplace in the room and the nature around were important. And it was all, and it was great!

On the way, a barrier was installed on the road, not letting cars through, trouble with the Internet, they barely managed to find the number of the restaurant to find out how to get to them in connection with this situation, because there is no question of a barrier on the website. We were informed by phone that only in case of booking a room and prepayment, our car can be missed. We only wanted to visit the restaurant, staying at the hotel was not in our plans. The young man on the phone sent us, to put it mildly, saying I can't help you in any way. ‘Excellent’ service, everything is on the level, what can I say. I don 't recommend it 👎
