Beware, scammers operate at Tbilisi Airport!
In the arrivals area, they offer taxi rides with a meter. However, their app is programmed to charge 10 GEL per kilometer. As a result, a trip from the airport to the railway station ends up costing 365 GEL for 30 kilometers, while the same ride in a regular taxi costs no more than 30 GEL.
If passengers refuse to pay, these scammers start shouting, threatening, refusing to return belongings, and not letting people out of the car.
It is unclear why the airport administration and the police turn a blind eye to this. In normal countries, illegal taxi operators are restricted from operating at airports, and there are designated counters for official taxi services.
Georgia hosts numerous competitions and international events, attracting many athletes and tourists. Their first impression of the country is ruined by such scams.
Take action!
There is a small airport, parking, a cafe on the ground floor, souvenir shops, and clean toilets. There is no control at the entrance to the airport, entry is free for everyone, which is not very correct, but this is a personal opinion). Passport control is strict, customs even stricter. In the departure area there are various cafes, chain cafes and just have a cup of coffee with sweets). And a huge wine gallery, just a paradise for lovers of Georgian wine, for every taste and purse, the consultants speak Russian, they are ready to help you with the choice) there is duty free, we did not go in, but you can see the standard assortment, cosmetics, perfumes, chocolate, alcohol. Overall, the most pleasant impression of the airport, and compared to what we saw at the airport in 2022, we noticed changes for the better)
A small but cozy airport.
Cozy and because of the smiling staff, very pleasant staff throughout the airport and at the passport office.
Conquered my heart - a sleeping dog inside the airport)) it's very sweet)
But…
However, there are enough cafes / restaurants. I flew out in the afternoon and only 2 coffee shops were open and there was no place to buy water. The water dispenser didn't work. I had to queue at a coffee shop just to buy water. There is no food. From the word at all. Unless it's candy, in duty free.
It seems to be an international airport, but it resembles an airport in a small city.
But there are plenty of market shops at the entrance - wine, key chains, churchkhela - which significantly spoils the perception of the airport.... Still not a beach town ... and here, except for circles and mattresses, there were enough inflated ones))
Sorry, but as it is)
The key thing is that ONLY employees and a dog create comfort)
The airport is beautiful and convenient. Clear. All information is in Georgian and English, which in general does not bother at all.
There is no security at the entrance, so you can go in and out as much as you want. That's a big plus.
The stars were removed for the work of the airport staff. Even with a discount on the Georgian mentality and their slowness, the check-in time for flights crosses all boundaries. And judging by the nearby queues for registration, this is the norm for them.
They talk a lot with words, they talk a lot with their hands, but they don't want to work. With this attitude, they do not need to work, but sit under a nut, drink tea and play backgammon.
As a result, they took off 30 minutes late.
A small but well-organized functional port. I liked that everything is accessible and there is no fuss. Employees, as Southerners should, are relaxed and in no hurry to live, but is it necessary?!))) Tach is free, without a queue and the organization of a refund is quite comfortable, and therefore if you plan large purchases, do not hesitate to get documents for VAT refund, a pleasant bonus. Dutik is a little weak on offer, but you can really run through it, especially on high-quality national wine drinks. Don't count on a good rag, it's not here!
Small, clean enough, the staff is experienced and polite, trying to do everything quickly and clearly. There is a place to charge gadgets, a small children's corner. In general, this is the place where I meet and part with an important piece of my family
Just super sincere people. Everyone speaks Russian. Mir cards are not accepted, but there are 5 exchangers for the tiny airport at once. The child forgot his iPhone on the plane, we contacted the airline desk and it was returned to him! Then we were fed in a very expensive cafe (the prices are just unrealistically high, but the bartenders compensated with a smile), charged our phones and had a great time before our flight. I just wanted to go back to see Georgia. At the airport, people were sleeping on artificial grass, and a stray dog was sleeping next to them and no one kicked him out of the building. So touching.
There are enough places to wait, you can spend a great night on chairs in the hall if all the money has run out during the trip and there is no more money left for the hotel. A policeman guards the suitcases of sleepers all night for free. Taxi drivers are also great - they do not impose services, prices are low like on a tram in Europe.
I'm pleasantly surprised, everything is faster and without fuss, not like in our airports!!! At the same time, I was on the eve of the holidays, the staff was good-natured and friendly. A police officer treated a child from Russia with sweets, but our children were not used to it and started crying. They probably don't scare kids with the police there.;))
An excellent modern airport is the face of Georgia and a worthy one at that! Spacious, clean, clear logistics, friendly staff. While waiting, there is a place to sit, take a walk, and ... spend the remaining money! Have a nice flight!
The airport is not bad, everything is clean, there is something to eat. A good business lounge. Negative impressions are probably only from employees. When I approached the girl, I asked for help in Russian, they didn't even look at me, they just passed by. Well, the man there accosted us, a visitor, although we were just sitting quietly in business and eating, talking in Russian. Of course, they listened well for their belonging to the country.
A small airport near the center:
- The airport is located near Tbilisi, by taxi about 20 minutes to the center (in the evening a little longer, about 30 minutes)
- navigation inside the airport is clear
- baggage check-in was very fast, there were a lot of counters working
- passport control and inspection also passed very quickly, there were no queues
- the staff is polite
- the Duty Free zone is small, mostly perfume and chocolate
- it was very stuffy and hot in the boarding gate area, but I often met this in Georgia, it is likely that this is a local feature
- several points where you can have a snack or grab a coffee
A convenient airport. One of the disadvantages is that at the airport you cannot buy a travel card for public transport to get to the city center for 1 GEL. Free Wi-Fi is available at the airport. I really liked the little guy. A wide variety of different products, especially traditional ones.
It is a small airport, which does not immediately indicate that it is the main air harbor of the state. Inside, there is a fairly clear navigation, long queues for check-in and baggage check-in, and short queues for security. They are not particularly brutal in their demands to remove everything down to their underpants, but they cannot be called a formal inspection either.
After passing the inspection, there is a standard dutik with not the most delicious wine (there are a lot of places in Georgia where the wine is much better) and a couple of restaurants. During rush hour, it is quite possible to see 100% of their workload. There is a small VIP lounge. The airport is quite new, there are no technical complaints, everything is working fine. Clear. The staff speaks Georgian and English, many know Russian.
A minus star for the choice of wines and for the absence of normal Georgian restaurants inside.
A small airport. Everything is modern. Fast and attentive service, clean. Parking is convenient. The baggage claim area is convenient. Well, as with most airports, there is simply no alternative.
The airport is compact and tired, the advantage is that it is close to the city. Fortune-tellers are "working" on the street near him- they surprised me, I haven't met him for a long time. All the controls on arrival passed quickly, but when taking off at the passport office, every document is checked almost under a magnifying glass, in front of me three people turned to special windows. Then there is a small, as usual, expensive dutik, if you go further to the boarding gates, you can find coffee for 19 lari, not 20 $. The staff is polite and clean.
The airport building is relatively small, but everything is well organized. The staff is very polite. We ordered a transfer from the airport to the hotel, so we got to the city without any problems.
A modern, convenient airport.
There are plenty of lounge chairs in every recreation area. Check-in counters, souvenir shops, cafes.
I recommend buying souvenirs in the check-in area. After passing through the control in the departure waiting area, everything is much more expensive.
The business lounge on departure is not large, but the places to relax are comfortable, there is a buffet with drinks and food.
The staff at the airport is ready to help if necessary. The departure time was without delay.
It is a very pleasant airport, it is not too huge and at the same time not cramped. Everything you need to eat right away in the waiting room at the entrance. A huge plus is there are no metal detectors. The counters are located in the same hall and you can go up the stairs in the center or on the escalator/elevator to take off. Very convenient. There are toilets on the ground floor and devices for buying a bus pass card to come to the city
I had the honor to use the services of Tbilisi Airport as a transit passenger.
The airport is new, small, and complete.
From what I didn't like:
- during transit, my flight was met by an employee who was sluggishly doing her job. Then they sent "help" to her. They don't speak Russian.
- after checking your passport, we waited and looked at 5-7 blissful aviation security staff who check you and your luggage. Again, few people speak Russian.
- shops inside the airport: the sellers also hardly speak Russian! Georgian wine prices are more expensive than in Moscow!
Conclusion: if it is possible to fly through other airports, use this opportunity.
It's a shame for Georgia that everyone is trying to communicate in English. Where does this love for America come from?! Learn history. It won't do you any good! You have a neighbor: a huge Russia, whose inhabitants still love you.
In general, there is everything you need even at night. Food and coffee are expensive, just like everywhere else at airports
There are round-the-clock exchangers. The only problem is to leave there by public transport - you need either a transport card (which was not at the airport) or a foreign bank card that works in Georgia. There is no cash payment
A convenient airport that can be reached from the center of Tbilisi by public transport without transfers, inside the arrival area there are a lot of exchangers and places where you can buy a SIM card. There is even a Wi-Fi connection. On departure, a good dude
A small cozy airport, everything you need to eat - exchangers, souvenirs, cafes, Security screening - only in a clean area. Russian is understood and communicated everywhere, even at customs. The staff is friendly and courteous!
I've been here many times. A small but quite cozy airport. It is managed by the Turkish company TAV. There is information that in 3-4 years the construction of a new airport will begin 40 km from the current one. Of the nuances: there is a cafe in the Duty Free zone, but they do not accept cash. Either a lari or a card. I was lucky that the exchanger was working and I was able to pay the bill, since I only had USD cash. I spent the last lari even before the cafe in the neighboring Georgian wine store. The overall impression of the airport is pleasant.
Convenient Parking, no security at the entrance to the building
The souvenir trade is booming
A huge selection of local wine products in duty free
Friendly English/Russian speaking staff
Any institution offering transportation services is very important for every traveler. Everything is very well thought out at the airport, it is clear where and what is located, fast service speed and excellent service. There is everything you need, many halls, a comfortable air-conditioned temperature room and rooms for smoke consumption. There are cafes, restaurants, reasonable prices.
In principle, it's a good small airport.Good dude.
The business lounge is generally great, delicious food and great coffee.
I didn't understand why, during transit, I had to stand in line and get a boarding pass instead of getting it at the initial check-in (I was flying from Vienna).
The staff is not very friendly.
There is a very decent and beautiful business lounge in the clean area of international flights, you can watch paintings, not a super extensive, but a delicious buffet.
A modern and beautiful airport is 15 kilometers from the city center, you can get there in half an hour. Not too big, spacious, with all the necessary amenities, including a smoking room. All pre-flight procedures are very fast, the staff is attentive and polite. Planes fly from here with direct flights to Moscow, St. Petersburg and many European cities.
Beautiful modern clean. Everything is organized and without queues. There is really little information in Russian. The dominance of NATO standards is visible. Otherwise, everything is clear and the prices, although high, are within reasonable airport limits
A small airport. Very convenient. It is divided into two buildings - the arrival and departure area. Taxis are not allowed to stop. It is very convenient to get from/to the airport by 337 bus for 1 GEL. Payment is only non-cash. The inspection is strict))
Beautiful sunsets, good organization during the transfer, answer questions, help))
The coolest thing is there is a playground!!! It's not that big, of course, but it was cool to spend 3 hours docking on the site than just sitting on chairs(((
The only disadvantage is that there are not enough places to eat properly😔😔
A large and uncomfortable shed. The airport is like a bazaar with high prices, to get to the food court you need to check in, but if you are unlucky and the flight is delayed, you will either have to starve or go to a very expensive cafe, although the food court is not cheap, mir cards do not work, payment is only in lari, and as a rule they are no longer there before departure, but there is again an alternative - a very unprofitable exchanger.
The trick of this airport is that we only announce late arrivals on the radio, but the flights themselves, even if they are delayed, run and see for yourself.
The politeness of the staff is so-so.
The dutiki are decent, with a large selection of Georgian wine. The price tag for wine is significantly more expensive than in Georgia itself)
There is a huge queue in the business lounge, but inside there is a great selection of food and drinks. What kind of cutlets with mashed potatoes are there, mmm!
