I was flying transits. I arrived at 1 a.m. The airport is large, there is a 24-hour shop in the right wing. There is water, beer and you can have a snack., and there are also benches where you can sit. The airport does not close at night. When exiting the airport, there is a plane on the left (see photo), where there are bus stops, and opposite the plane, across the street there is a 24-hour gas station like our Lukoil. You can see the refueling if you approach the plane. Walk 300 meters. BUT Google will lead you like Germans, with all pedestrian crossings, the path will be about 1.3 km. Turn on your wits here and you can cut 1 km of the way 😉You can have a snack at the gas station, there is a microwave, they will warm up. I do not know German, but the frau at the gas station was friendly, unlike the customs. There is a bakery at the airport, closes at 23:00 and opens at 6 a.m. local time. Bakery products are at a "height" here, I recommend it. The police walk around every 20-30 minutes, looking at the order. The toilets are there, clean. You can smoke outside in special places. There is a hotel near the airport within walking distance. Transit through Cologne 31.01.23 At passport control, we checked everything that is possible and impossible: hotel reservations (I was in Cologne for 9 hours), cash, insurance, round-trip tickets, even asked what I would do at the end point of the route.
