The village of Pskhu and its airfield (more precisely, the airfield littered with flowers) is the only village on the territory of Abkhazia occupied by the Germans in World War II. For a little more than a week, the Edelweiss division was in charge of the Psu.
For the most part, 90 percent of the population of the Psu is Russian.
There is a small hydroelectric power station in the village.
The bridge over the Bzyb River is a separate type of extreme art. And in general, the whole road from the pass to the Pyv tract is just great adventures:)
In general, the initial task of the trip (and I realized that it was insurmountable the fastest) was to go down from the village of Pskhu along the Bzyb River, to the bed of the western Gumista river and go in the direction leading to the Sukhumi hydroelectric power plant and, further, to the very Sukhumi. These 18km remained insurmountable by car.
The locals are incredibly friendly, come from the city to test yourself, feel their philosophy and way of life.
A beautiful rural airfield!Good approach, solid ground, beautiful clearing!

A high-altitude village. You can get there by corn truck from Sukhum for 30 minutes of summer. Off-road only in summer, there are places across the river. Elderly Old Believers live in the village, but you will see them hurt. There is a very beautiful church in the village, where the parishioners themselves read prayers and hold services. The settlement was founded by Abaza people, about 500 families lived, but they were expelled during the Caucasian war, which ended in 1864, Pshu remained the last unconquered Caucasian village. Due to hopelessness, about 4 thousand Abkhazian-Abaza people were forced to be overpopulated, most of them migrated to the territory of Turkey. It is in these places that there are secret sources of living water, but no one will show them to you. It is for this reason that in 1942, Hitler's troops reached the only village in the Caucasus, the village of Pshu..,
Have a good trip!
It's a fairy tale! incredible residents and the temple atmosphere of past times. time has stopped. there is a good reboot going on. Mother temple. it needs to be seen. now this is our place of strength. advise
A quiet, isolated place with a unique location (and therefore climate). Sincere people, mostly Russians. I visited this place in 2005 during a bike ride from Lake Ritsa to Sukhum through the Ancho (Pyv) and Dou passes.
The flight was wonderful, the pilots are top class. They helped to load, and after landing they helped to unload. Due to the weather conditions, I had to stay overnight, and as soon as the clouds cleared, they immediately flew out.
