A good place to get acquainted with the nature of Abkhazia, with minerals, the history of the country, the painful independence, you can read and see a lot. The museum is five, the staff is two! The keeper of the halls followed us, turned off the lights in the past halls, mumbled to herself how she hates the second floor, moreover, almost an hour before closing, like we prevented her from leaving earlier, you can't treat visitors like that! And, reading the reviews, I agree, many of the exhibits are not signed.
The museum is magnificent, I recommend everyone to visit. There is ancient and medieval archaeology, materials on modern and modern history. There are even well-preserved black-figure ceramics.
Very interesting! Especially for those who want to get a general understanding of the country and its culture from the very beginning. It's more interesting with a guide, but the tour is quite fast, although it lasts about an hour. The signs on the ground floor are quite exhaustive, on the second floor I already want more explanations in some halls.
