DMobil demanded a copy of the passport under threat of blocking communication services
Today, on August 6, 2022, DMobil requires, under threat of suspension of communication services, to submit correct passport data, in accordance with the law "On Communications".One of the ways in which it is proposed to provide personal data to the operator is a passport – a copy of the passport via SMS.
As stated, all this is being done in connection with the amendments made to the law "On Communications". But neither the law "On Communications" nor the Civil Code, which regulates contract law, requires the subscriber to provide the operator with a copy of the passport. Provide passport details - yes. A copy of the passport - no!
The threat of blocking communications and the categorical arrogance with which the DMobil operator is trying to force subscribers to share information that is a priori redundant both from the point of view of the law and from the point of view of the contract, suggests an attempt to use this data for purposes that have nothing to do with the provision of communication services.
DMobil management, please comment on what basis do you require a copy of your passport?
The confirmation functionality through Public Services is working . A copy of the passport is not required for such confirmation.
