A snow-white castle with 140 luxurious halls! Carved ceilings, carved furniture, gorgeous porcelain, tapestries, stained glass windows, marble staircase. You really get to several centuries . In front of the castle there is a very beautiful park with incredible lawns.
The Czech Republic is a country of thousands of castles and Gluboka nad Vltava is no exception. Built in the 13th century by King Wenceslas the first, with a courtyard and a huge number of different interior items. Sometimes you even have to squeeze between furniture and knight's armor one at a time because of their large accumulation. Tapestries, dark wood, paintings, hunting trophies - everything is so fascinating and steeped in history that the impressions of visiting this castle will excite the imagination for a long time! I definitely recommend to visit on a combined excursion to the Czech Krumlov and Gluboka nad Vltava.
We were with my wife in March. It has just been opened to the public after the winter. At 11.00 on the route there are Representative rooms (reprezentační pokoje) and in the park. It's amazing! I knew that a lot of things can be made from wood. But what is carved out of wood in the castle is better to see. It is impossible to convey! And Czech craftsmen made this carving. For Russian speakers, a guided tour, which includes recording at the entrance to the halls. For Czechs and those who want to be in a smaller group - a guide. If you don't know Czech, you are given laminated text (Russian, English, German). A few tips for those who come by car. It is better to leave the car in a large parking lot immediately behind the Penny store. Don't risk leaving your car in the store's parking lot. There is a sign there - your car can be towed in 1 hour. The price of parking is 50 CZK for the whole day. From there, for the same 50 kronor per person, take a car with trailers directly to the castle. You can walk. But uphill, and you're wasting time. You may be late for the start of the viewing session. But I recommend going back. And it is useful, and there is something to see. Near the castle (actually all this is in the complex) there is a hotel and a restaurant. You can have lunch there for 99 kronor, without drinks. If you ask for the lunch menu (denní menu). They offer coffee and homemade cupcake in the complex for 55 CZK
