A familiar place!!! I visited here several times when I served in the GSVG in 1988-90. My service took place in Rosslau in the 58th ORVB, where I was appointed to command a platoon of heavy vehicles after graduating from UVVAKU. If you don't know, I'll explain that in my platoon there were MAZ-537 cars with semi-trailers for transporting tanks. And since it was impossible to drive tracked vehicles on roads in Germany, but only on specially equipped landfills for this purpose, they were transported on special equipment designed for this purpose. I didn't see it myself, but I remember well the story of what happens to the T-80 tank when it breaks down. It was secret in those days. The tank was covered with "flyers" from all sides and specialists were called from the factory. And they were already deciding what to do with him. Maybe it was a bike, I don't know. Personally, I had a photo where I was on such a tank. However, it has not been preserved. It doesn't matter. The main thing is that my memories of Germany are the most positive. The Germans are a good-natured and sociable people. We are to blame for the fact that we have a bad opinion of ourselves. And it would be nice for us to learn good manners from foreigners. I think many people will agree with me about how law-abiding we become when we get behind the wheel of a car, go to a cafe or restaurant, stay in a hotel in a foreign city, and where all this disappears as soon as we return to our homeland. And it is unlikely that anyone will be able to change anything. This is our fate. And how good it is that there is now such an opportunity to find out how their life is there!!!

Everyone who was assigned to the Altengrab garrison arrived at this small station. Here, after the transfer in Frankfurt and the army headquarters in Magdeburg, service in the GSVG began. We were returning home from here...
