One of the advantages is the location. It takes 10-15 minutes to walk to St. Mark's Square. Next to the hotel there is a vaporreto pier in different directions, including Murano.
Cons: the hotel is located in a church building!!! The rooms are probably in the cells. We lived for 3 days in bad weather - it was terribly cold, the tap water was barely warm. Despite the presence of a bathroom, we did not even dare to swim once. There was only one outlet for everything in the room! one table is as ancient as the church itself, a broken table lamp. During our stay, the light bulb in the toilet burned out. At the entrance, the doors are wooden with a conditional lock, either ants or some other insects were constantly running on the floor.
Well, to the pros. Everyone at the reception spoke Russian! There are also many Russian guests in the hotel. The most important thing and what we bought into is the shared kitchen. To be honest, she was saving us!!! Restaurant food is not very cheap. Therefore, we considered the option exclusively with a kitchen. It is the kitchen that does not give this hotel a 1* rating. We cooked both morning and evening. Thanks for that, too. Otherwise, the accommodation in this hotel is very exotic.
It is more of a student dormitory than a hostel, previously there were cells in this building. There is no heating in the rooms, it is cool and damp in autumn and winter. There are no radiators in the bathroom, which is located outside the room, but individual. In the evening, exit through the labirite corridors. Payment is only in cash, access to wireless networks is unstable. Requests for help often do not get a clear answer. The commandant is not indifferent to alcohol. I do not recommend it, in Venice you can find other accommodation options at reasonable prices.
