There is a reason why the House of Culture stands on Emil Darzin Street.
He was born in Jaunpiebalga (Latvia). In 1898-1901 he studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory with N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov (composition). Darzin is one of the classics of Latvian choral and solo song. His vocal lyrics have great melodiousness, are deeply emotional, and the best choirs are characterized by symphonic development ("Broken Pines", "Bygone" based on the texts of revolutionary poetry by Ya. Rainis, "In the Distance of Dreams", etc.). Of Darzin's 4 symphonic works performed during his lifetime, only "Melancholic Waltz" (1904) has survived. Darzin was a prominent music critic, his views were characterized by a democratic and educational orientation.
That's what I wanted to say about it.
