Being in Istanbul, of course, I wanted to look at the palace where the sultans lived, so Topkapi was a must. The first disappointment is the ticket price - since January 2023, a ticket to the palace costs 500(!!) lira, with a harem of 650(!!!) lira. The price is unreasonably high, because a lot of pavilions are closed to the public and by and large, except for the harem there is not much to see. The next and biggest disappointment was visiting, as the audio guide told us, the premises where the sultan's chambers used to be, as many as 40 rooms.... What turned out to be the case? After standing in an incredibly long queue for 1.5 hours, we found ourselves in a small room with an absolutely uninteresting museum exhibit and a souvenir shop. That's it!!! After such a setup, the whole impression of visiting this place was completely spoiled. I was a little pleased to visit the harem, but we did not have enough information and history there, the audio guide is very brief, in some rooms there is no description at all.

There are a lot of people! It is better to come early in the morning. There are combined tickets. Palace, palace+church, palace+church+harem. The latter, in my opinion, is the most profitable. Do not get in line at the checkout right at the entrance, you can only pay in cash, in lira. If you go a little further there are vending machines for card payments. There is an audio guide, free of charge, but you need to leave your passport as a deposit. There are guys standing near the house with audio guides, ready to give you excursions for cash. All of them advise, but we haven't tried.
There is a long queue for tickets, but it is worth defending. Tickets cost 550 and 650 liras, depending on the number of locations. You won't be able to get around it quickly, at least 2-3 hours (to run and take pictures). It is very big, and there are so many interesting things. It is convenient to use the audio guide. Expositions can't be photographed everywhere. The view of the Bosphorus is beautiful
We were in October. At first with an excursion, but we didn't see much, so then we went on our own, taking our time. There are always a lot of people, so it's better to come to the opening, then you can get into all parts of the palace and quietly explore.
An incredibly beautiful place! Be sure to visit. If you go during the season, then of course the queues are very large everywhere, you need to be ready for this.

A magical atmospheric place! You can wander there endlessly and get a lot of impressions! Indescribable amazing emotions from this place. I definitely recommend visiting historical sites to anyone who loves them!
A beautiful historical place, although it does not reach the greatness of the Russian tsars!

A very rich museum ensemble. The queues for tickets are long, but they go pretty fast. We were in this place at the beginning of May and red tulips will always remain in my memory.
The park and the palace are very beautiful.
The prices for visiting are very high. The queues at the checkout and at the entrance are gigantic.
One of the advantages is a free audio guide
It's a very beautiful place. Especially those who watched the Magnificent Century series will like it. It is very surprising that such places have still been preserved, even though there was a renovation.
It's beautiful - there are no questions! My wife and I took an audio guide and it was enough for us. You can get around all THIS in one day, but if you come for 3-4 days or are not in a hurry, there is only so much that by the end of the hike your legs just fell off!
Everything is interesting here, just come and see, soak up the spirit of the empire!
An interesting place, but very strange. It's overrated in terms of money. In fact, different buildings are scattered throughout the territory. It is much more interesting to visit the Dombakhche Palace
A one-time tour, you won't want to go there anymore! Grey, nondescript, in need of repair, this is certainly not the Hermitage! Even in the "off season" there are a lot of people. One of the advantages is an observation deck with a view of the sea.
The queues are kilometer-long, the entrance is 3800 per person in rubles. We went into the shop, looked at the booklets - it's beautiful there! But we limited ourselves to that. Some other time
I recommend all the girls of the post-Soviet space to see firsthand the harem of the Turkish sultans in order to think about all the charms of medieval dorms for the glory of polygyny
It is incredibly interesting to visit this historic place!
Especially after watching the magnificent century 😃😍

Topkapi Palace with a harem and the Church of St.Irina is currently worth 950 lira. It is an iconic place in Istanbul, so you need to visit it for a check. But the museum did not make a special impression on me. Absolutely not worth the money. How the harem is served for viewing is generally disappointed. You won't see the wives' rooms there. Only the hamams, the valide hall, the eunuchs' rooms, the corridors. The situation is reproduced very poorly. To imagine it, you must first look at the Magnificent century)))) Plus a huge crowd of people, queues, summer heat. The Church of St.Irina's is a scary hall made of gray stone, with scaffolding in the center. The impression is made only by the stone walls with which the sultans surrounded themselves)))
To get to this place, it is best to take a guide, since with a guide you are allowed to pass without queues. Using the audio guide, of course, you save money, but you will not learn the 10th part, which a professional guide can tell you. I did not spare any money at all, having spent a wonderful day and visited 3 places, slowly and bypassing the queues. The place itself is stunning in beauty.
We visited the palace in the morning, at about 9:30. The queue was not very big, we stood in it for 15 minutes. It is a pity that the audio guide needs to be taken elsewhere, there was a queue for 40 minutes, we did not stand, we went straight to the palace territory. I get 1 star for this."
I don't know why people write negative reviews about this place, maybe they are in a bad mood."
Every time you visit historical sites, I recommend that you familiarize yourself with the history of the place in advance so that you can navigate more inside and not get lost.
The palace itself impressed, we had a nice time, it was interesting to visit the rooms of the palace and the harem.
I also want to note that when visiting all the attractions in the morning, there are few people compared to the afternoon or evening. Consider this. Buses with tourists arrive in large numbers during the day.
It looks like the Hermitage, but it is unreasonably expensive and there are no declared museum jewels (a couple of diamonds), and the rest is not earlier than the 19th century.
The territory is very large, but there is absolutely illiterate logistics, piles of people and crowds pushing into the narrow fences of the premises.

It is very expensive and not justified to visit. It's easier to watch on YouTube. When you are offered to purchase a free audio guide, be prepared to purchase activation for $50
From 500 to 650 liras for foreigners, for locals 110/140 liras... The difference is significant, it's a bit expensive for a museum. It is not written anywhere that you need to leave a document for an audio guide, we have not seen it. There are a lot of people, but closer to closing, you can even take a picture without the crowd.
There are very few such museums in the world. To get acquainted with how the lords of the Middle Ages lived, to see in person the places where they hosted guests and ancient relics is just wonderful. I definitely advise you to visit. You won't regret it!!!

The palace complex of the sultans is located on a huge territory on the mountain. It offers breathtaking views of the historical center of Istanbul, the Galata Bridge and the Bosphorus. In addition to the buildings themselves, there are also numerous collections of sultans, from weapons to family jewels. It makes sense to visit this complex with a guide.
It is necessary to start the inspection early, even in winter, the queue at the ticket office, it is better to immediately go left to the harem, we went first to the right to the kitchens and eventually barely managed to get to the harem half an hour before closing, but we went there alone with the museum guards. A ticket to the harem is purchased additionally, the palace is amazing.
Overall, the palace is impressive. But, without a guide, it is difficult to understand something. Audio guide (which is given free of charge as a deposit of 100 euros or a document) it will tell you something, but the purpose of most of the rooms will remain a mystery.
