At the top of the hill of the Muses there is a marble monument erected in 119 AD in honor of Gaius Julius Antiochus Philopappus, a noble citizen of Syrian origin, who, as Roman consul, decorated the city and supported it with reasonable decrees. The verdant hill of the Muses rises to the southwest of the Acropolis. In the central niche of the monument there is a statue of Philopappus sitting on a throne. In the center of the frieze he is on a consular chariot. From the top of the hill, a spectacular sight is the grandiose Acropolis, Pnyx Hill and the Areopagus against the backdrop of Lycabettus Hill. On the horizon is the mighty bulk of the Pentelian Mountains and Parnassus. In the south there is a view of the Saronic Gulf, in the west the port of Piraeus, in the east Olympia and Mount Hymettos.

The monument itself was not very impressed, but the view of the city in all directions and the Acropolis is simply magnificent, by the way, perhaps from this peak the best view of the Acropolis. Admission is free and round-the-clock. Along the way, if you go from the Acropolis there is a Socrates Prison, I also recommend it
