This place is very impressive! The monastery is carved into the rock to a great depth. An unusual sight. Frescoes and an icon of the Virgin Mary with the Christ child have been preserved in the church. This is the only icon in the world on which the Virgin Mary smiles. I recommend you to visit!

I really liked this place! I liked it much more than at the open-air museum in Goreme. It's quiet here, there are no crowds of tourists. You can explore the temple itself, the well-preserved frescoes, stroll around the territory, climb the mountain and look into the temple from above. They don't forbid taking pictures. Admission is only 300 rubles.

We visited this monastery on a road trip around Turkey. It was built typically for that area, but cave structures of this scale were new to us, and this makes it more interesting. We easily parked near the entrance, and the cashier asked us to buy tickets for cash. The place is popular.
