It's a beautiful place. If you are in Athens, be sure to touch the ancient Greek history. You can hire a guide, it will be more interesting to walk around the historical open museum. To enter the entire territory, you need to buy a ticket. You will see the Parthenon, the Theater of Dionysus, the Erechtheion, the temple dedicated to Athena, Poseidon and King Erechtheius.

The Erechtheion is the most complex finished work of the ancient classics. It rises in the northern part of the Acropolis, where Athena and Poseidon disputed each other's dominion over the city. The Pentelian marble temple began to be built in 421 BC and was completed in 409 - 405 BC due to the war with Sparta. The temple fits perfectly into the relief of the rock and covers mythological places of worship. The eastern part of the temple with 6 elegant columns is dedicated to Athena. An Ionic door with decorative sculptures led to the sanctuary of Poseidon. Here was the "sea of Erechtheion" - a source of seawater, which was hammered by the blow of Poseidon's trident. The sacred olive tree, which Athena presented to the city, becoming its patroness, was located at the western facade, where a young olive tree still grows today. The portico of the Caryatids on the south side marked the burial place of the mythical king Kekron. Six graceful girls with capitals on their heads support the roof. Today's caryatids are copies, the originals are in the Acropolis Museum.
